This is a bit of trivia for you. Do you know what scripture this is?

For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors.

And now, as I said unto you before, as ye have had so many witnesses, therefore, I beseech of you that ye do not procrastinate the day of your repentance until the end; for after this day of life, which is given us to prepare for eternity, behold, if we do not improve our time while in this life, then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed.

Ye cannot say, when ye are brought to that awful crisis, that I will repent, that I will return to my God. Nay, ye cannot say this; for that same spirit which doth possess your bodies at the time that ye go out of this life, that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world.

Wow, there have been some very interesting answers. Thank you for your opinions good and bad, it is interesting to see what you have to say.

I am quite amused, however, at why some of you are so against it, just because it isn't familiar to you or in your religion. What is so bad about what this scripture is saying? Would you be so kind as to explain that to me?

if this scripture was in your own religious books would you believe it? I don't see why not, it's got some very good advice. Stay righteous, and prepare to meet God now, cause once you're dead its too late.

If I'm not wrong, I believe it is in the book of Alma 34: 32-34 in the Holy Book of Mormon

I don't study or read other "bibles" or literature from other religions. I prefer to stay with the real and therefore can easily recognize something that doesn't quite mesh with my spirit. When I was 18 I got a job at a grocery store. I was able to spot counterfeit bills very easily because I dealt with real bills all the time. I could tell by the feel of the bill as I was counting a stack of them. Yes there are valuable things in the words of this passage but I don't value them as scripture and God inspired. I can't say that they are definately not but for me I will not consider it viable.
There are many passages in the Jehovahs Witness New World Translation that are unaltered and stated pretty much word for word as the King James Version but that does not mean that I will read or study it.
I don't take any chances with things that could bring any kind of doctrinal deception and I feel there were some things in the passage above that gave me that icky feeling in the pit of my stomach, and no I am not going to banter that whole thing with you. I just won't read it again and the source is of no interest to me.

I haven't read any of the other answers, but I'm going to guess it's in Heleman. Either Amulek or Alma said it - I'm pretty sure about that. I wasn't a member when I was of age to attend Seminary, so I don't know exactly where in the Book of Mormon it is.

EDIT: Ok, so I was wrong. It was in Alma.

April, my dear- just because it's not in YOUR scriptures doesn't mean that it isn't allowed to be sacred to someone else.

Alma 34:32-34

Besides, what's wrong with addressing and repenting of one's sins today?

Interesting responses to say the least. Why are people so prejudice? What if it was Buddhist Scripture or from the bible? What would you do then? Religion bashing is stupid.

I love this scripture! Alma 34: 32-34. so plain and straight forward! Repent now, you can't when you're dead!

Ouch, if this is the book of Mormon as others have said, then it is written in very bad mock Elizabethan English. Verily, thou must know little indeed about the King James Version that thou puttest thy faith in this travesty. Dost thou not comprehend t'is no scripture at all but a poor imitation. Ah me, Shakespeare must be rolling in his grave.

This seems to be a passage from the Mormon heterodoxy, Alma 34. It's not scripture.

I think its kinda funny how many people on here are mormon haters. Just cause the scripture ain't from your religion, doesn't mean its bad!

It's mormon doctrine
It's not scripture.

Definitely written by a lunatic and I don't think it's available in the NIV version.

Hey, notice that all of us that didn't fall for it being out of the Bible, because we know our Bibles well enough to know that it's NOT from the Bible, received atleast 1 thumbs down. Alright! Somebody doesn't like us. Me thinks it's the mormon chick that started the question!
