it seems to me that many christians in this forum are coming around to accepting the theory of evolution as the best explanation for how man and other life forms got here. this became apparent to me over the last few questions i asked. if you're a christian and you still think evolution is a lie, i'm curious to know what branch of christianity you follow.

sorry michael r., any list which uses a universal flood as an explanation for rock strata automatically loses credibility to me. i simply cannot accept that as fact. there's absolutely no evidence for it.

Not a lie so much as a misunderstanding. Science dismisses the existence of God, and therefore has to come up with its best guess under the assumption that there is no deity.
There are parts of the combined theory that we can observe today (for example, survival of the fittest & micro-evolution), and therefore we cannot dismiss the entire theory. However, I have not seen anything resembling adequate proof in the combined theory that can explain the origin of life.
I am an Evangelical Christian.

Sorry but this Christian doesn't. There is too much evidence against it. Some Christians try to take the middle road and accept both, but this is illogical. Evolution was proposed as an alternative to needing God to create the world. Darwin was celebrated not for being the first to propose the idea that species evolve, but for being the first to propose a viable means.
Yet later evidence went against even this. The gradual differences expected in the fossil record failed to appear (punctuated equilibrium was proposed as an alternative but this provides description of the fossil record only; no explanation is given). The laws of physics and modernly discovered astronomical arrangement are peculiarly in favor of human life and modern exploration. Statistics counters the idea of random chance explaining things; even with the most extreme age of our universe, the chance of even the most basic components for life coming together approaches zero. Chemistry further complicates things by making necessary components unable to form in remotely similar conditions, and half the possible arrangements of amino acids are "poisonous" rendering any proteins containing them incompatible with life.

Evolution is a fact. But CREATION is a major FACT. No evolution theory can explain how the Universe was formed or why it exists... or why you can handle your mind -your BRAIN and your body, and have THOUGHS and read this. No human science can even do what a cow does: Transform grass into meat ! Humankind cannot actually produce MILK. Have to grow millions of cows for obtaining it- --Probably cows have dual-core system: convert grass and water into meat and milk (!).
Evolution is a fact. A fact that need a source -creation- a hardware -creatures- and a software -Creator- for obtain results.
Cows and humans 'hardware' is the same -atoms- but have different 'software' ---- Wwhere instructions for the difference come from ???
-Call it evolution if you want.
I prefer name it: GOD.
Thanks for having read my ansswer.
Blessings.
Roberto.

Baptist.
Evolution is true in that it explains the differences between organisms in the same general type, such as all of the Galapagos finches and tortoises being different from each other.
Evolution is a lie when it tries to jump around species, the finches stayed finches and did not become sparrows or crows or eagles.

I am a Baptist who believes the Bible, which says God created the earth and all living creatures that inhabit it. Biology books are man's creation, the Bible came from God through those He chose to write His word. I'll believe anything from the Bible, no matter how farfetched it may sound to others, because it is the perfect word of God.

I am hopeful. We present our best, most reasoned answers, and sometimes people read them and consider ideas they have been taught to reject.
Communication is our most precious tool against ignorance. "Education" may end with a diploma, but communication carries on throughout life.

Got rid of them with a quick quote from their own Bible.
"And the Lord commanded that Adam name all the animals"
That's what Darwin did. Darwin was fricking doing the Lord's command. Sheesh. Some people are so blind.

What better tool of the enemy could he have than something that gets Christians away from preaching Christ crucified and instead arguing about such life changing matters like carbon dating and the natural process of fossilization.

ok i got to say 2 things here...first of all...
if someone has been made out of a rib once...how come it hasn't happened again? and a snake guarding an apple no one is supposed to eat...its beyond reality
the second thing is if the bible is based on what Jesus taught to his apostles and Jesus got those ideas from God, wouldn't that be hearsay?... last time i checked, our judicial system says that hearsay is unreliable.
