It is in human nature to put ones trust in divinity being afraid of death and wanting eternal happiness after death.

That is why people believe in religions so that they can feel secured before they die.

Christians don't think for a second that other religions got any less faith or believe in their gods authenticity any less than yours.

My question is whether you Christians actually believe in your religion because of the spiritual sensations from God or is it because of what you have read in the Bible and what you have been exposed to?

If you were to read a book called the Uilible with Gresus as the saviour with very different commandments and principles to follow such as "you shall not pray to me more than once per day or you will not go to heaven" then I bet you Christians would be having no less faith in that then what you have for your Bible and Jesus.

Therefore I say your faith is blind and delusional as whatever fairytale claimed as real could convince you.

If you read the made up story in the Uliblbe and never heard of the Bible is it not true that you would be as faithful and delusional as you are with the Bible?

Would Gresus not be talking to you through your prayers aswell since that is what the Ulible said?

Ponder whether it is your delusional minds fooling your conscience because of what you have read or is it really something authentic?

You know it deep inside.

Yes, it is human nature to put ones trust in divinity, being afraid of death and wanting eternal happiness after death. But what if it is really true, that there is a God that we will go to after death? I know there is. It's sad to think that others don't know that.

Not all people believe in religions so they can feel secured after they die. I don't believe in that. For all I care, I could burn in hell for eternity. It still wouldn't change my unmovable belief in my religion.

Joe Smiths said: I see no faults in the Church, and therefore let me be resurrected with the Saints, whether I ascend to heaven or descend to hell, or go to any other place. And if we go to hell, we will turn the devils out of doors and make a heaven of it. I'm with Joe.

I'm sure that other religions have just as much and in some cases even more faith than some of us Christians. But being Christian, I feel I must challenge the authenticity of their God (s), and if they feel they need to they have every right to challenge the authenticity of my God.

I believe in my religion based on 2 things: 1. I have felt the almighty power of God in my life. It's a most wondrous feeling of overwhelming peace, and joy. Everything is right and calm when that feeling comes over you. 2. I have read The Holy Bible, The Book of Mormon, The Pearl of Great Price, and the Doctrine and Covenants. When I read and prayed about them, I felt the feeling I explained above, and I know without a doubt that what I read is true.

I somehow doubt that I would have any faith in the Uilible with Gresus as a Savior, unless it was exactly the same thing as the bible, just spelled differently. But the commandment, "You shall not pray to me more than once per day or you will not go to heaven" is pretty ridiculous and I have to say that I am going to hell if it is true. I will continue to pray several times a day if I so please. Thank you very much.

My faith is not blind nor is it delusional. There was a time when I was in doubt, but after prayer, and study I have come to KNOW that my religion is true, without even the tiniest doubt. When we all die, We will see, shan't we? And I bet you'll be surprised.

I know since this is from the Bible, you won't care, but my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, meets every requirement of the true church as set forth in the Bible.

Seventeen Points of the True Church

1. Christ organized the church. Eph. 4:11-14
2. The church must bear the name of Jesus Christ. Eph. 5:23
3. The church must have a foundation of Apostles & Prophets. Eph. 2:19-20
4. The church must have the same organization as Christ’s church. Eph. 4:11-14
5. The church must claim divine authority. Heb. 5:4-10
6. The church must have no paid ministry. Isa. 45:13, 1 Peter 5:2
7. The church must baptize by immersion. Matt 3:13-15
8. The church must bestow the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands. Acts 8:14-17
9. The church must practice divine healings. Mark 3:14-15
10. The church must teach Jesus Christ & God are separate and distinct beings. John 17:11 & 20:17
11. The church must teach God & Jesus Christ have bodies of flesh and bone. Luke 24:36-39, Acts 1:9-11
12. The officers must be called by God. Heb. 5:4, Exodus 29:1 & 40:13-16
13. The church must claim revelation from God. Amos 3:7
14. The church must be a missionary church. Matt. 28:19-20
15. The church must be a restored church. Acts 3:19-20
16. The church must practice baptisms for the dead. 1 Cor. 15:15 & 29
17. By their fruits ye shall know them. Matt. 7:20

Why are these things important? Heb. 13:8

I know that The Church of Latter Day Saints is the true church of God. I know that Jesus Christ is my savior, and is central in the Plan of Salvation sent forth by our Heavenly father. I know that he lives, and loves each and everyone of us, for the worth of souls is great in the eyes of God. I know that even the lowliest of souls is worth worlds to God. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, as were all the prophets after him, and before him up to Gordon B. Hinckley. I know that one day, we will all stand before the Judgment Bar of Christ, and he will judge us. I know that no matter what other's think, it doesn't matter as long as I have the truth. And I know without even an atom sized bit of doubt that I am not delusional!

Thank you for your very interesting question.

You make some assumption and sweeping generalizations about people of faith. Plus your "thesis" has no logical sequence from assertion to conclusion. Do I have security when I die, nope. Who am I to say my life and faith have been enough to garner me paradise in the afterlife. It does however give me hope that there is more, something larger then this individual life. Do I fear death? No, why? Who fears death, death is what it is. People fear dying (the pain, the regret, the mistakes). The actual act of dying and it's random factors (when, where, how long will it take) is what is feared.

But to answer the one question you do have in here, I actually believe in my religion because it helps me be a better person. I have spiritual sensations. It helps me better understand man and the world. It actually helps me to answer the really hard questions in life: what is it's purpose? What is moral? What is beyond me and my small perceptions? Some people don't use religion for that, some do. For me it is a useful guiding tool and principle, for some it is not.

It is not blind and delusional, in fact it is quite academic in nature. So big deal you don't believe in God. What is your problem if I do?

What can I say is that I still remain having strong faith in a supernatural being that created this world; that being God. My faith as a Christian is truly not blind and delusional. These past years, I know that other people have made a new meaning to Christianity or may have distorted its true meaning...maybe that's the one you're getting to, but really Christianity is all about the truth that God sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for us...to pay for our sins, as no good deeds can ever repay or make up for all the sins that we have done. Our mission as Christians is to live out God's purpose and good news that He loves and cares for us. Together with that, we show love, respect, self-control and differentiating what's right from wrong, as that is what Christianity is supposed to be about. I just don't necessarily believe that praying will get in the way of getting to heaven. Getting to heaven is so much more than that: we get right with God by building a relationship with him through Jesus Christ.

Why should it matter to you? What loss will you suffer by what a Christian does, or does not, believe? Read about your other religions. I know of only one religion where the savior (main entity) dies FOR the salvation of the people. Most other religions indicate that a person has to do xx xx number of that religions pleasing things to gain salvation. In other words, they are their own way to salvation. They are evidently able to earn their own salvation. The 9/11 terrorists evidently were of the full belief that by what they were doing pleased Allah and as a reward for their wonderful, dedicated conduct, they would attain eternal life in (whatever they call Heaven) plus get 72 virgins for their good work. Do you feel a religion such as this has it right?? This is just one reason Christianity stands out above the others. Christ died to save you---not the other way around.

I agree with so many answers so no need to reiterate them.

Have you ever read the Bible, studied the abundant prophecies that were foretold and written before they came true? I dare you to do this and prove to all the Christians that we are wrong. You will only succeed in becoming one of us.

If you don't have the guts to prove us wrong, then you are really scared that we are right and just don't want to face up to the TRUTH! Jesus is the only way. He teaches love and advocates the same from his followers. We are not perfect. We do not earn our way to Heaven through our good works but perform good works as a result of our faith and obedience and love for Jesus Christ. Why is this such a terrible thing for you? What is it that you resent about Jesus? All he taught was love and free will.

1. Mankind's nature is sinful and we do not seek after God; it is God who seeks after us.
2. People believe in various religions because there is a hole inside our souls which only God the Creator can fill. Those who do not accept Jesus Christ have rejected Him and are thus under condemnation.
3. I believe the Bible because (a) Fulfilled prophecies (b) Empirical science supports the Bible (c) God sought me out and led me to repentance and He gave me His free gift of salvation
4. God says, "Come, let us reason together". The Bible says we are to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Thus faith in God and His Word is the only reasonable faith. These are but 2 verses which show that belief in God and His Word is not a blind faith, but a faith built on reason.
5. Since evolution is the only alternative to God the Creator, and since evolution contradicts all known scientific laws and the laws of nature, it is belief in evolution which is delusional and blind.
5. "And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie." 2 Thess. 1:11
6. Empirical science always supports the Bible. It never supports evolution.
7. "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given by which we must be saved". Acts 4:12. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." All other religions are false religions led by false prophets, regardless of how sincere their beliefs. They might be sincere, but they are sincerely wrong.
8: "The fool says in his heart there is no God." Ps. 14:1 The word used for fool in this verse literally means insane.
9. "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things which are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse." Romans 1:20
10. I do not rely on my own faulty, human senses when it comes to my faith. Our entire being has been polluted by sin, and we are too easily deceived by Satan when we rely on anything or anyone other than God Himself.
11. "For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I've committed unto Him against that day." 2 Ti. 1:12

No, Faith is a gift and those who answer the call receive it... I was taught all kinds of different things growing up and there comes a time in ones life whether you except the call or you don't..There is choice involved..Nobody ever swayed me into believing ... I answered the call and from there is history .. I am not here to convince anyone of my faith that is God's place to do so...You have the right to believe what you will ...faith Delusional no

I am sure that anyone anywhere can have just as much faith in their belief as I do in mine but that might not make it right.... I guess in the end we will all find out one way or another wont we...

Well for one, I do not believe in Christ to be secure in death, I believe in Christ so that I might have life and have it abundantly. I have exactly zero fear of death because I know that when it comes it will come.

For two, I have studied other religions and read the religious texts and the writings from the various theologians and still believe that Christ died so that I might be forgiven and that he is my savior and Lord.

If you think my faith is blind then you are the delusional one and maybe you should not make blanket statements for something you know nothing about.

*sigh*

I fear dying. I've never done it before. I don't fear death. If there is an afterlife, then I'll find out exactly what it's like when I die. If there isn't, then there really isn't anything to fear, is there?

I am not Christian because I fear death. I'm Christian because I believe it accurately describes the universe. If I found out for a fact tomorrow that everything Christianity teaches is the absolute truth except for the existence of Heaven, it wouldn't change my faith one iota.

And, by the way, you have no idea how much I enjoy being told what I believe and why by someone who's never met me. Hasty generalization much?

Seems you spent so much time on this question but because you do not know much about God or the bible you say all of this. The bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be saved, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler's map, the pilot's compass, the soldier's sword, and the Christian's charter. Here Paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of Hell disclosed. Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end. Read it slowly, frequently, prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It will reward the greatest labor, and condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents. It is the Book of Books-God's Book-the revelation of God to man.
But your made up book does not offer anything and is just a story and that is all. You can beat around as much as you like but there will never be another book that can transform lives and give them eternal life.
