Or are you too dogmatic and closed-minded to even consider it?

As a matter of fact, yes, I'm willing to consider a possibility that Socrates, or any historical figure for that matter, did not exist.

Some of you people truly amuse me. I never said that Jesus DIDN'T exist. In fact, I'm quite convince that he did. But at the same time, I do think it is POSSIBLE, if not likely, that he was just an amalgamate of ancient myths.

Well, I wouldn't normally consider myself close minded, but if this counts me as close minded, then so be it.

There is not even the tiniest possibility that Jesus Christ never existed.

the concepts of existence in general are quite complex and frightening if you consider that many people use religion as a way to deal with the fear of non-existence.

sure, im even willing to accept the fact that none of what i see may actually exist. however, im gonna enjoy what i perceive for as long as i can.

Hypothetical possibility exists, I suppose. After watching "The Truman Show," I wondered if I even exist.

EDIT:
I would dare to say that the historic evidence that he did in fact exist (regardless of whether or not he was who he claimed) is close to irrefutable, even from the secular sources. If we question Jesus' existence, we must question every historic document before the fall of the Roman Empire.

OK Rolling Stone !

I don't want to cut and paste ALL THAT information onto this board .

Now before you list your proofs , don't forget that your historians all simply penned hearsay evidence because they were born after the supposed death of Jesus . There is only one contemporay historian, Josephus , that said he met some followers of Jesus , the so-called Christ . And there is some evidence that even this may be a piece of forgery .

Edit :
Evidence that Confirms the Existence of Caesar is Legion
– in stark contrast to the utter dearth of evidence for Jesus!
Unlike the mythical Jesus Christ, we know what Caesar looked like and we have a complete history of his life. In turn, general, orator, historian, statesman and lawgiver. We have words written by Caesar himself and words written by both his friends and his enemies. Artifacts confirm his life and death, as do his successors. Caesar established a style of government – and a calendar – which endured for centuries.

Yes, I'm willing to accept that as a possibility, provided there is sufficient evidence to back up this claim.

I'd say there is more than a tiny possibility. The Romans kept good records, both of census and criminal proceedings.

I find it odd that there are no contemporary writings on Jesus. While that doesn't mean he didn't exist...it makes him look a lot less important than people make him nowadays.

Is it possible? Sure, anything is possible.
Is it likely that he did not exist? No, we have enough evidence to say yes he did exist.

it doesnt matter if he lived or not...the point is to be christ-like and follow his example.saying you're a christian or believing he was a living person and not doing what he says makes the idea of christ useless.
