fear of "suicide by boredom?"

Fear of death helps us value our lives and the lives of those we love. Fear of losing wealth helps us value the time that we have it. Fear of loosing health makes us take care of ourselves and those we love while we can. The need of God is when we realize that we have no control over our fate nor our future.

Can you throw a stone and know where it will fall, or have it fall in exactly the same place as it did before?

I do not fear death because I know deep in my heart what is going to happen. Health is the same, because fear of poor heath is fear of death at the root.

For wealth, I trust God to provide for my needs. I am saying this from a real place, because I have been in situations in the last few years where I did not know if I would be able to keep a roof over my family's head and food in our bellies.

I can see both side's if you will but I do understand the historical significance and what it represents to so many and I can respect that, I am not one to belittle any ones belief system, I do not believe that one has to step on others beliefs in order to validate their own belief . I respect the concept of respect in its self. I am impressed when any individual arrives at a point where they want a greater significance to the meaning of life and they have a genuine desire to grow as a person. I believe that it takes an intelligent person to see that we are all imperfect people, my only concern as far as the nonbeliever would be if you remove consequence and fear? what motivates you to become a better person, maybe some people are happy to just exist, who said we all had to take the same course of action? Some people believe it is about the journey, while others believe it is about the destination, I just like to fly first class.

With all the above conditions, you have removed the "mystery" from the system, which makes the life more interesting to live. It's like playing a game where there is no excitement, because we know the out come.

If existence of God is because of greed and fear then, it's not God.

It is the love of God that give Christians HOPE so that we don't fear the struggles of life or the event of death. Because we KNOW in our hearts that God loves us and we are His children then we are safe from evil. Everybody worries about things - Christians, Jews, Muslims, Atheists, everybody. The need of God is just as important to a person as the need for love. So that we know in our hearts that we are indeed special in the eyes of God and loved with more power than any person or thing could ever fathom. I hope the love of God is shown to you so that you see the need all Christians have within our hearts and souls. Please read the Bible. There is nothing more powerful than the Word of God. But you must believe in Him to have the hope and strength of God. God already loves you.

If you think that God has only one function ie to relieve humans from fear, then may be, you are right. However, the concept of God is much more than that and it's needed by people who believe in Him.

that depands on ones point of view, i got rid of all fear once i stopped believing in god, i knew i have no one to ask for help so i just dont feel any fear anymore! some people feel lost though, they cant go on without believing they get the feeling that they r living like an animal if they dont believe in god which makes sense aswell! so i guess it's all about the perspective!

i think for many, it isnt a fear of death, but a fear of non-existence.

however, as someone who is not sold on the concept of on omnipotent and consious being that controls everything, but is afraid to die, i would have to sy that your criteria are not the only ones for having faith in god. I personally feel that faith in a specific "god" is just a way that some people choose to frame their love of all that is. it is something that surrounds us and that we are taught from a young age, so its easier to feel that compassion and love for existence by framing it with "god"

Only born again Christians need have no fear of death. All others should fear it because after death comes the judgement. We need God in order to escape eternal damnation and receive eternal life. We also need God to sustain the universe.

u mean losing wealth.. losing health..and not fearing death? .there is diference between loosing and losing..
ok..you mean losing i suppose..then..
you need god to give you the courage to live life after losing the two...and as far as 'no fear of death is concerned'..then u need god for the faith that you will die...coz sometimes..you carry to live on after you lose health and you need support..you are crippled and you are a pile on..a bundle of bones..and a vegetable....here you need god to let you die....
