If this were true, how would it affect you? People die every day for one reason or another, good or bad. What if they were the ones called home to heaven and we who are alive today are the ones 'left behind' till we are called, by dying in any maner? Think outside the Bible on this. The Bible doesn't say this is the way it will happen, this is a question for thought!

My sister is 19 years old, and I have absolutely no idea what to get her for Christmas.

I know what I DON'T want to get her. Body lotions, DVDs, CDs, gift cards, candies... Other people already get her those things, and I've made the mistake of getting her such things previous years---only to find them in her closet months later.

I want to get her something she can use. But I'm also on a budget. I'm only 16 and my income is minimal....

So I'm not that close with her. I don't know TOO much about her. But here's some info that may help:

-She travels 40-ish minutes every day to work, so her car is her life.

-She's not super girly at all, but she isn't a tom-boy. She appreciates feminine things, but she doesn't wear jewelery.

-She has a laptop, which she uses primarily to talk to her friends.

I can't think of any hobbies she has... I'm at a loss. I really don't know what to get her.

It would be great if you could help at all, any ideas. Anything...

How come whenever i answer a question about religion, when the asker wants to know what i believe in i always get thumbs down?! I do not believe in God, is that a problem to all of those people who give me thumbs down!? I believe in evolution and the big bang theory. What is so special about God?! No offense to any of the "believers" but i just think God is like a ghost or something that "controls" the billions of people on Earth?! How come the dinosaurs were here before God and everything, and then he suddenly has this "creation" and makes the world?! I just don't think the whole thing is fair, that people will disrespect you if your a "non-believer". What do you think about the situation? I really dont know?! Without God couldn't this world be a better place with many less wars?!

by filters i mean the mental processes that make sure we think of things like the rain as 'rain' instead of condensed water vapor, arrangements of photons entering our eyes, a wave, a pit-pat sound on the roof, slippery stuff, or other things

my question is: do filters obscure meaning?
since thinking of rain as arrangements of photons isnt very helpful, does it matter if they obscure meaning?

and finally:
what are we? arrangements of photons? scattered memories in our mind and the minds of those who know us best? spirits? watery bags of squishy organs and bones? dust in the wind? what?

How do you feel when people mix christianity with catholicism ? i personally get upset because like christians were like totally against the catholics and everyone wants to put them all under one class and i soooo do not like that because now people think i worship Mary when that's not true ... I had been teaching my three-year old daughter the Lord's Prayer. For several evenings at bedtime, she would repeat after me the lines from the prayer. Finally, she decided to go solo. I listened with pride as she carefully enunciated each word, right up to the end of the prayer: "Lead us not into temptation," she prayed, "but deliver us some E-mail. Amen."

And one particular four-year old prayed, "And forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets."

A little boy was overheard praying: "Lord, if you can't make me a better boy, don't worry about it. I'm having a real good time like I am."

A Sunday school teacher asked her little children, as they were on the way to church service, "And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?" One bright little girl replied, "Because people are sleeping."

The preacher was wired for sound with a lapel microphone, & as he preached, he moved briskly about the platform, jerking the mike cord as he went. Then he moved to one side, getting wound up in the cord & nearly tripping before jerking it again. After several circles & jerks, a little girl in the third pew leaned toward her mother & whispered, "If he gets loose, will he hurt us?"

Six-year old Angie & her four-year old brother Joel were sitting together in church. Joel giggled, sang & talked out loud. Finally, his big sister had had enough. "You're not supposed to talk out loud in church." "Why? Who's going to stop me?" Joel asked. Angie pointed to the back of the church & said, "See those two men standing by the door? They're hushers."

A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin, 5, and Ryan, 3. The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake. Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson. "If Jesus were sitting here, He would say 'Let my brother have the first pancake, I can wait'". Kevin turned to his younger brother & said, "Ryan, you be Jesus!"

How exactly does the process of salvation work in the Catholic church? What I mean is how does one go about getting saved in it. I know in most protestant churches a sermon is preached and an altar call is given. Those who are lost and want to get saved will come and pray. I have seen people literally run to the altar. How is this done in the Catholic church?

Honestly, I don't care how much money I would save. There is no way you would find me out at the mall today. Can't stand the crowds and I feel like the world is just getting more and more materialistic..it's really a shame. I spent the day hiking with my family. We had a much better time than we ever would have had shopping today. Anyone else agree with me?

Creationists if your child came home with a letter from school stating that they will be taught about the origins of humans according to the religious teachings of Scientology how would you react?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make a Christmas tree look more unique?

My husband and I were married in April, this is our first Christmas tree. We bought red, light green, and silver ornaments, white lights, silver strands of beads and a red star to put on the tree but it still looks a little ....blah. Does anyone have any ideas to liven it up a bit, without adding any other colors?
