I'm both, but do feel that saying I am lesbian produces less hatred than saying I am atheist.

Huh. I'm an atheist lesbian too, and I think it's being an atheist.

How odd.

It seems to me that if you are homosexual, the fundies figure that you are already a lost cause, but they are very defensive if you say that you are an atheist.

I think they fear people leaving the church, and convincing others to do so, more than they fear a particular couple going to Hell.

*edit* I don't mean to imply that atheists are the targets of hate crimes or severe discrimination, but in my personal experiences, more people are uncomfortable with my atheism than my homosexuality. Which is really quite weird!

We gays are by far. I have never heard of an atheist being beaten to death for being an atheist. Straight atheists are allowed to marry the woman they want. Atheists are allowed to serve openly in the military. I have never heard of an atheist being persecuted or oppressed here in the US.
In muslim countries, atheists and gays are equally executed though.

Unfortunately gays are still more persecuted. Atheists aren't discriminated in the workplace or housing.

I'm a Lesbian and a Pagan.

I go to highschool in a super redneck NASCAR town, that hosts some nasty anti-everything Christian groups.

I find it harder being Pagan, to be honest. Thats not quite the same as atheist, but it says something, I think.

Well when you're both like me, its really hard to tell. All you know is that half the world hates you, 1/4 doesn't pay attention and the other 1/4 doesn't care what you do and accept you for who you are.

Can an atheist get married, and name one country where an atheist has been executed in the public square (unlike the gay men who were executed in Iran two years ago in front of their families).

Gays, of course, silly.

Definitely gays. I've never heard of any type of persecution against atheists.

Federal law prohibits discrimination based on religion affiliation (or lack thereof), but does not prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Atheists are not fired from their jobs for being atheist... gay people are fired for being gay.

Atheists are not denied apartment leases for being atheist... gay people are denied leases for being gay.

Atheists are not victims of violence because they are atheist... gay people are attacked for being gay.

Gay people are more persecuted because it is often legal to do so.
One does not see protesters at soldier's funerals holding signs that say "God hates atheists" but does see protesters holding signs intolerant and hateful towards gay people.

Gays. Common headlines proves that.

They've made great strides though. Tis sad they have had to hide for too many centuries past.

Gays I think.
From my own experience and from what I see here, Gays are automatically assumed to be atheists.
