and real christians do NOT go to mary for reference or anything like that ... read in the Bible mary herself said that she needed salvation from Jesus ... she was His earthly mother not his spiritual mother ... she can not help us .... only God can .... a christian is someone who is born again and believes and follows ONLY Jesus .... Jesus is God and the Holy Spirit ... they're all the same

I get angry when a person doesn't know who a true Christian is, and they base ideas on those so called Christians, sorry though, I haven't really had anyone confuse catholicism and christianity up yet though.

Catholics are actually one of the original Christians, if you look back on Church history, you'll fing the church starts as one then splits into the Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic Church the later the protestants come into play with Martin Luther and John Calvin.
And if you listen in History class you'll get that same information

Well, considering that Catholics were the first Christians and all Protestant denominations (which would be all Christian religions not Catholic) are a split from the original Church...I think you should feel good about being classed with us Catholics.

And by the way for the umpteenth time...we do not worship Mary...never have never will. Maybe you should learn about Catholicism and then you wouldn't be so ignorant of our ways or of your religious heritage.

I was raised in a fundamentalist branch of Christianity, believing many of the lies told about Catholics. Ironically, when I began seriously reading the Bible I was led to Catholicism. I realized that my church was lacking many of the things that Scripture held as important to Christianity.

As I asked questions (gasp!) I found that Catholicism actually adhered to those teachings. It was my misconceptions that were wrong. As I traveled to Israel, Italy, Austria and saw the early Christian sites I realized even more fully that the things that I had criticized were in fact practices of the early Christians.

Do I run around and tell other Christians that they are wrong? No, I'd rather work with non-Catholics making care packages for elderly shut-ins, collecting housewares of domestic abuse victims starting over, or educating others about Anti-Semitism and the Holocaust.

So, this Christian is quite happy to be identified as a Catholic

I'm not Catholic, but I go to mass occasionally with a friend. It's the bomb, you should try it. Then your heart wouldn't be so hardened against people that don't believe the same way that you do, yet are good people worshiping God in the way their conscience dictates.

These other folks are right--you should consider what the early Christians, converted by Christ's own apostles, suffered in silence. They were beaten, abused, but most often murdered by their own people, the Romans, if they were found to be Christian.

Do you know where the fish sign that Christians use to symbolize their faith came from? It was a sign used to covertly identify a fellow CHristian. If a man drew an arc in the sand, and another man drew another arc over the top of it to finish a form of a fish, it meant that they could speak to each other and worship together.

These people truly suffered. You owe them your gratitude.

I believe as the Lord tells us in the New Testament that we should worry more about where we stand spiritually instead of pointing fingers at others. Catholics are Christians and just because they have some different church related theories doesnt mean they are any different than all the other denominations of our great faith. Love one another!!

People are a little touchy here....a can of worms......

I have a feeling, that Catholics would prefer not to be grouped with LDS or JW even though they also claim to be Christians. In the same way as I would prefer not to be called a Catholic.

I see no reason for getting upset in this kind of matters, rather an opportunity to witness and explain and discuss the differences.

Some people claim to be Christians, we can't know for sure if they are, it is a matter between God and the individual.

Some people are misguided people, who sincerely believe they are Christians, without actually knowing how far they are from the truth. Even they will be looked at as pagans at Day of Judgement.

Proverbs 12:1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, But he who hates reproof is stupid.

Praise God for good people like Martin Luther and his translation of the Scriptures into common language.

We are to present the truth and let the Holy Spirit do the work of transforming, for it is not in our power to do so.

Catholics have the Pope, LDS have Joseph Smith and JW have "Pastor" Russell...where will it all end.

Keep your eyes upon Jesus, for He is the only sinless individual who has walked on the surface of the earth, He is the only one who by His redemption, can offer you salvation.

Like a mailman, you deliver the message, but it is up to the receiver to decide if they will take it or toss it. Do not fall into temptation of getting upset, it is just another way for Satan to get to you.

Matthew 7:22-23
Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'
23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.

The Pharisees, were followers of the law, but that didn't take away their blindness, and give them salvation....there is so much more than just words and regulations.....it is a matter of heart..

In Christian Love,

Soli Deo Gloria

Its an honest mistake
we as Christians need to be forgiving
trust me I've dealt with plenty of spite being a Latter-day saint or Mormon
anyway it can be kinda strange being called a catholic but hey they believe in Jesus Christ same as us so although our religions are different we do have one thing in common and are all Christians

and by the way Latter-day Saints do not worship Joseph Smith

First of all, GROW UP. "We are so totally agianst catholics and i am soooo mad that we are blah blah blah..." listen to yourself. We do not worship Mary, but we do pray to her, taking in the consideration that she is the mother of Jesus Christ. And why are you soo agianst Catholics. I myself am Catholic. Why do ppl like you pay attention to the little stupid differences and not the BIG simialities. Christians are just desended from Catholics, and we're like the same thing, ok. no offense, but you need to read the Bible and get your story straight. sometimes your querks can really upset other ppl, like me.

I feel totally fine with catholicism. I do however know a handful of people who actually 'pray' to Mary, although many people on here try to correct me for saying it's 'interceding' with her-I do believe that's true, but some catholics believe in praying to her as well. That is the only thing I am against with catholics. God Bless =]

Catholics are the original Christians. Some people who claim to be Christians but bash the Catholic Church are actually agents of Satan.
