Creationists if your child came home with a letter from school stating that they will be taught about the origins of humans according to the religious teachings of Scientology how would you react?

All others are welcome to give their input.

By the way I SUPPORT EVOLUTION.

Just curious about the responses by creationists to this situation.

I would yank my kid out of school and call the ACLU.

Anyone with a brain can see the facts of evolution. Just look at a baby parrot. That is definitely a dinosaur. Or a baby ostrich - another dinosaur.

I am a Pagan.

Hello.. :)

Please accept my apologies as this may be long..

Well all of my children are adults with children of their own now..

But when my oldest daugther was in third grade, she had to write a paper on the origin of the Universe and she received an F.. :(

She did not realize, that when the teacher told her she should relate how she thinks, the Universe was created..that she could not mention God..

So she wrote all about Genesis and the six days of creation..That is why she received the F..

The teacher and Principle with whom I met with said, she only gave a Biblical account and that was not what they had been studying..

I asked if she could rewrite her paper right then and there..to show that she knew about the Big Bang Theory (which is what they had been studying)..

They agreed..she received an A+..They also gave her another A+ for the Biblical account..(Though it was just a symbol)

So, having gone through the system with all of my children..

If they decided to Teach about Scientology..
I would say..It is a Public School system and if we have to send our children there..we have to abide by their rules.. :)

My children learned about the ~Love~ and forgiveness of Jesus in our home.. :)

In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With ~Love~ In Christ.. :)

I agree with Schneb that no religion, at all (including Evolutionism), should be taught in a public school. But, no matter, for I sent my kids to private parochial school (Seventh-day Adventist Christian Schools), as is my right, to avoid them having to learn the more heinous errors of the world at too young and impressionable of an age.

The whole premise to this question assumes that all religions should have an equal right , or equal time, or equal whatever to present their 'truth'.

That notion is all wrong. Only the doctrines of the correct religion should be taught. My religion is the correct one. It's not scientology.

Ergo... the religion I follow, and only that religion, should be taught. Why cant all the rest of you see that. It's not rocket scientology. (sorry, I had to)
lol

just cuz they study it, doesnt mean they believe it. i had to learn evolution in school but i don't believe it. on my tests i wrote the text book says . i guess i would tell my kids to do the same... but i would rather just send them to a Christian school where i wouldnt have that problem :) I would teach them the Bible which doesnt call people monkeys

I would ask when they planned on teaching this lesson. Then keep them home. I know people who have done that growing when it came to sex ed. Parents were always told and there were no problems. If it were going to be a long standing teaching standard of that school. I would be forced to pull my kids out all together. God will hold me accountable for such things some day.

I would just crack up laughing. When it comes to things like that I can teach my children what I belive.

I almost hope some school does that now...

As a very-much-non-creationist, I'd ask the little bugger who he was.

I'm sure I don't have any children, and if this shrimp tries to tell me he's been created by God to sponge off me, I'd give him a clip round the ear and kick him out.

I'd tell my child to study the information, memorize it, and regurgitate it on test day, the same with everything else.

Memorizing or studying something doesn't mean you have to believe it.

No religion at all should be taught. Just because you cloak your religion with the moniker of science doesn't change anything. I am talking about the religion of evolution as well.

Thumbs down away. I will consider it a badge of honor.
