Ours in kinda boring lol. We have turkey and dressing with carrots, onion and celery in it. Mashed potatos and gravy, green beans with slivered almonds, sweet potatos, and of course cranberry sauce. We either bake a pumpkin pie or apple pie for desert.
For many years it was tradition fo the family to gather at my grandmothers but she passed away a couple of years ago and the family is so spread out we just kinda do our own thing. This year it'll only be 4 of us - my guy and I and my mom and her husband.
After dinner I'll break out holiday movies like Holiday Inn, White Christmas, or something along those lines to get us in the holiday mindset, lol.
Hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

If you answered YES, then your church is NOT the church founded by Jesus Christ.

By its Christ-given authority, the Catholic Church canonized the New Testament in the late 4th century. But while He was on earth Jesus founded His Church, with Peter as the first pope. Don't believe me" Here is a list of popes:
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/12272b.htm

Among the Christian churches, only the Catholic Church has existed since the time of Jesus. Every other Christian church is an offshoot of the Catholic Church. The Eastern Orthodox churches broke away from unity with the pope in 1054. The Protestant churches were established during the Reformation, which began in 1517. (Most of today’s Protestant churches are actually offshoots of the original Protestant offshoots.) Only the Catholic Church existed in the tenth century, in the fifth century, and in the first century, faithfully teaching the doctrines given by Christ to the apostles, omitting nothing.

So are you also saying that God was willing to allow immense suffering, pain, sin, and evil to enter the world for thousands of years, in order to make sure people loved him sincerely and not because they were programmed to, which would serve absolutely no purpose other than to please him?

yesturday was sunday and I went to church.
after all the pomp and circumstance, one of the assisstant pastors gets up to the pulpit and tells everyone " not to move around or leave while the pastor is preaching ". Then he goes on to tell us a story about a woman who left the chruch and years later suffered a heart attack and about two boys who made fun of a balding pastor and where eaten by bears. It worked, no one even moved to go to the bathroom. ONe man had to go to work as the preacher was talking and they called him out. He just laughed and stood by the door as they basically intimidated him. Then an usher asked nicely that he stayed and he said "I have to work" the usher said that to the pastor accross the room, as the man left.
It was ashame and I spoke up, but my friend sitting next to me touched my thigh , basically signaling me to "stop being rude".
This happens so oftern, I go to a pentecostal chruch and hate the intimidation!

What would you have done?

Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus sayeth the Father: Ye shall have eternal life. 2 Ne 31:20

The Bible says we are born into sin and that the only way to Heaven is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. So, since there's no place in Heaven for these innocent, ignorant souls, does that make God an unfair dude? Does being unfair make God a not-good dude, or can unfair be good?

If I want to, can I still continue doing whatever I enjoyed doing here on Earth while I'm there in Heaven? People say that Heaven is better, you'll only want to serve God and do nothing else, blah, blah, blah. BUT WHAT IF I still have my interests and desires that I had here on Earth and I want to continue doing them instead of just serving God all the time?
I really hope I don't change into something else because I like who I am right now and want to keep my interests and desires and be able to continue them there.

I got an email this morning that said forward this to everyone you know, lets boycott this movie, its about killing god and promoting atheism in children ect... My family, although they call themselves christians, are not that religious. They are somewhat openminded in the idea that other people may not believe what they do. They know I am not Christian. I found it so strange that my family would send me something like this. Is it really as hatefilled and horrible as they are making it out to be?

I would like to know where anyone who is Atheist gets their beliefs, and what are they? I don't know much about the subject, and would like to hear some answers first hand. I'm not here to badger, critcize, or mock. I truly would like to know. P.S. I feel that the Christians out there who do mock and all are the ones in the wrong.

Or is it that by not accepting "the Christian messiah" as my personal savior, God* will assume I'm not interested in Heaven**?

Or is it both? Or perhaps neither?

*by which I mean "the Judeo-Christian, Biblical, Abrahamic deity Yahweh.

**by which I mean "the Christian concept of a favorable spiritual existence after mortal death".

bible does not contain the gospel of Jesus. In his lifetime, he didn't even bother to write his gospel. . I think, most christians believe that Jesus knew about his time of crucifixion. (as he was God according to them) so he must have written some gospel. but we dont find any such gospel written by Jesus or dictated by Jesus.

Doesn't it imply that he was sent only for the jews and for particular time period. not for the whole mankind, otherwise, he would have left behind something for his followers to come,,, as this verse confirms.

Mat 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Isn't managing Earth's inhabitants like managing an ant farm? I hear people say that we can make him cry by being bad or unresponsive. Why would he even care? How would he know? Why would he want to torture us if we're not worth messing with?
