In Islamic eschatology, Barzakh (Arabic: برزخ) is the intermediate state in which the soul of the deceased is transferred across the boundaries of the mortal realm into the spirit world and into a kind of "cold sleep" where the soul will rest until the Qiyamah (Judgement Day). The term appears in the Qur'an.

Barzakh is a sequence that happens after death, in which the Angel of Death or his helper angels will separate the soul from the body, either harshfully or painlessly depending on how righteous the person was before his death. Three events make up Barzakh:

The separation of the soul and the body.
Nakir and Munkar's interrogation of the soul.
Finally, the "Waahash" or the horror of the grave, the pressure of the grave depending on whether the person was righteous or not.
The soul rests in peace or waits torment until Judgement Day, based on whether the soul answered the three questions correctly or falsely.

As claimed by the prophet Muhammad, "These are the worst hours of a man's life".

In Islam, there are five main stages of life:

The age in the Domain of the Spirits (‘Alam al-Arwah) is where the spirit of the person lives on ever since the first creation of the person in purely spiritual form, together with all other human spirits, and where all the human spirits had entered a Covenant with God whereby God was acknowledged by their as the supreme Lord, and God had promised to take care of all their needs.
The age in the womb is where the body acquires its soul. After around 100 or so days of the fetus in the womb, the fetus is imbued with a soul from Heaven. The soul however, is completely innocent and totally lacking of any worldly knowledge, which is reflected by a baby's helplessness.
The age in the mortal world is the stage of life from the moment of birth from the womb to the moment of death.
The age of the grave is the stage after death in the mortal world, where the soul is stored in Barzakh awaiting the Day of Judgement.
The age of the hereafter or rest of eternity is the final stage commencing after the Day of Judgement and all of humanity has received their judgement from God. Each person is required to cross As-Sirāt, the bridge over Hell. If they were righteous they go to Heaven and if they are unrighteous they cannot cross the bridge. This stage of life commences officially after the embodiment of Death is brought up and is slain, thus Death dies literally, and no one will ever experience or behold the concept of Death everafter. Based on the verdict received during the Day of Judgement, each human will spend this stage of life in Heaven or Hell. However, some of those in Hell are eligible to go to the Garden after being purified by the Hell fire at a later time if they "had an atom's worth of faith in them", making the Islamic Hell more akin to purgatory in Catholicism.[

Their body rots and they cease to exist entirely.

The mind exists only because of the brain. Without the brain, the person is gone.

Heaven is much more amazing than any human here on earth can imagine. It is a place where human beings would feel perfect and everlasting love, joy, peace, comfort and happiness.

John 14:2
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Revelation 21:4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

1 Corinthians 2:9
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

2 Corinthians 12:1-4
It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

Everyone after death will be able to see Heaven and the rewards stored up for those who love God and love to serve God, but only the saved will enter Heaven. The unsaved will be shown Heaven by demons who would afterwards take them to Hell. The demons would taunt them saying "This is what you could have had," and "This is where you could have lived." Those who denied and rejected the Lord Jesus Christ will suffer never-ending remorse.

There are 2 kinds of people on the earth: people who love God and people who don't. Those who love God will be drawn to His Son Jesus Christ and accept him as their Lord and Saviour. Those who do not love God will not love His Son and accept Him.

1 John 2:23
Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

These who do not love God are not good people but His enemies (Romans 5:10) and He has already prepared a place for them (Hell). Many say they love God but they are liars. How can we prove they are liars? God sent His Son to die for us, but these reject Him (Jesus) and the truth about Him.

God's Plan of Salvation for Us

We cannot be united to God or enter Heaven without accepting the blood of Jesus Christ as the payment for our sins. Praise God for His great sacrifice!

God created us out of love (Jeremiah 31:3) and He doesn't want us to be separated from Him because of our sins. He loves us so much that He sacrificed His own Son Jesus Christ to pay for our sins so we could have a relationship with Him and spend eternity with Him in His kingdom (John 3:16).

Jesus came to pay for our sins with His blood (Matthew 26:28) because without the shedding of blood there would be no forgiveness of sins (Hebrews 9:22), and no other blood besides the blood of the Son of God was sufficient to pay for our sins. We are all sinners and we cannot be redeemed and saved unless we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and His shed blood as payment for our sins.

After a believer dies, they go to paradise to be with Christ (Luke 23:43). If a person dies without accepting Christ as their Lord and Saviour, they would not be forgiven by God. After death, the demons claim them and drag them to a terrible place called Hades (Acts 2:31, Luke 10:15). All those in Hades will be later thrown into the eternal lake of fire along with Satan, his hosts and all who refuse the true and only way of salvation offered in the Lord Jesus Christ. Burning in the everlasting lake of fire is known as the “second death” (Revelation 20:6, 13-15).

God was made flesh as Jesus Christ of Nazareth to make the sacrifice on the cross for the sins of all who would have faith in the Lord Jesus as their Saviour. This faith cleanses the sins of all believers, redeems and unites us to God and allows us to enter and live forever in God's Kingdom. Becoming flesh to suffer an agonizing death on a cross shows the extent of love God has for us, and He wants us to choose Him by accepting the atonement He made for our sins. The Lord Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life (John 14:6).

The truth about Jesus Christ can be found only in the word of God which is the Holy Bible. Verse 16 of chapter 3 of the first book of Timothy speaks about Jesus:

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” (1 Timothy 3:16)

Verse 9-11 of chapter 2 of the book of Philippians tells us that Jesus Christ is Lord over all:

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11)

False doctrines claim that there are several paths to God. Scripture/the word of God tells us that there is only one way and that is through Jesus Christ. Verse 6 of Chapter 14 of the book of John says:

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)

Verse 36 of chapter 3 of the book of John reveals:

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" (John 3:36).

If you sincerely say this prayer, your sins will be washed away, you will be saved from eternal torment and inherit the Kingdom of God:

"Dear Jesus,

I am a sinner.
I repent of my sins.
Please forgive me and save me by your shed blood;
come into my heart.
I want to receive you as my own personal Lord and Savior.

Amen"

After sincerely saying this prayer, the Holy Spirit will abide within you and begin to lead you to all truth, empower and equip you and help you along life's journey. Keep your faith growing by reading and studying the word, remain in a repentant and humble spirit and always have Almighty God as first priority in your life.

As long as you have faith in the Lord Jesus as your Saviour you are saved. Through your faith in Christ as your Saviour the Holy Spirit will guide you in repenting of your sins and doing the will of God. If you lose this faith, you lose Salvation.
