Or is it that by not accepting "the Christian messiah" as my personal savior, God* will assume I'm not interested in Heaven**?

Or is it both? Or perhaps neither?

Of course not. God realizes that we all get off track and sin every single day. He won't think we're not interested in heaven, he'll just think we're human! As long as we ask for forgiveness and continue striving to be better, then we'll be considered "interested" in heaven.

As for the second question...I hate this question. Yes, I've been taught that the only way to heaven is through accepting Jesus as my savior...but I hate to think that people of other religions are going to hell just because they were raised in another belief system. I have been taught that if one doesn't know they are sinning, then it can't be considered a sin. So if someone truly believes they have the right answer, why can't God forgive them and judge them on how they spent their life rather than who they worshiped? I know, I'm a bad Catholic for thinking this, but I like to think of God as being kind and all-loving. There's my 2 cents. :)

Noone obeys God, that is God or any god, all the time. It is impossible to obey all the time because we are sinful creations that can not meet the standards of God. The entire old testament is written not so much as a rule book to follow, rather as an example of how we can not be holy and righteous without help. That is where Christ comes in. He sacrificed himself to atone for the sins of all men ( and women). That means all people born and to be born have had their sins paid for. It is a gift that only needs accepting.
I am very interessted in Heaven yet find myself disobeying God several times before I leave the house most mornings. I try to correct my shortcomings but know that God loves me and accepts me anyway. God created me, but I am still a work in progress. Thankfully God is not only righteous and just, He is merciful. That way I don't always get what I deserve, most times I get grace instead.

Think of it this way. When Bill Gates dies, he will probably not leave his fortune to you.

It is not because of something you did wrong. You could be a great person. He could do all kinds of great things. You might even have helped out Gates by using some of his products so that you contributed to his fortune. But odds are that he is not going to leave you anything.

Not because he has something against you, but because he has no relationship with you. His fortune is going to go to those he has a relationship with. Usually his family.

God's fortune, which includes heaven as a part of it. goes to those who are in relationship with him. Those who have become part of his family. That relationship begins with the acknowledging of what God has done through Jesus.

Those who are outside of the family - good, bad, or whatever - are not going to get anything from the will.

He won't think you're not interested. And, no one obeys him completely at all times. But there is a difference between intent and action. You can think well, God is cool (or something...) or I'm interested in heaven...but, that won't get you into heaven. If you are interested in heaven, I'm sure He knows, but He does state that you must accept Him as your personal savior to get into heaven.

No one obeys God completely and at all times. That is the beauty of the relationship vs. religion aspect of true Christianity. I will list 2 references for evidence of this. Both by Apostles 1 Paul and the other John. Both instances are written to and by believers:

First from Paul in Romans 7:
18 I realize that I don't have what it takes. I can will it, but I can't do it. 19 I decide to do good, but I don't really do it; I decide not to do bad, but then I do it anyway. 20 My decisions, such as they are, don't result in actions. Something has gone wrong deep within me and gets the better of me every time. 21 It happens so regularly that it's predictable. The moment I decide to do good, sin is there to trip me up. 22 I truly delight in God's commands, 23 but it's pretty obvious that not all of me joins in that delight. Parts of me covertly rebel, and just when I least expect it, they take charge. 24 I've tried everything and nothing helps. I'm at the end of my rope. Is there no one who can do anything for me? Isn't that the real question? 25 The answer, thank God, is that Jesus Christ can and does. He acted to set things right in this life of contradictions where I want to serve God with all my heart and mind, but am pulled by the influence of sin to do something totally different. (MSG)

Now from 1 John 1:
8 If we claim that we're free of sin, we're only fooling ourselves. A claim like that is errant nonsense. 9 On the other hand, if we admit our sins - make a clean breast of them - he won't let us down; he'll be true to himself. He'll forgive our sins and purge us of all wrongdoing. 10 If we claim that we've never sinned, we out-and-out contradict God - make a liar out of him. A claim like that only shows off our ignorance of God. (MSG)

The wonderful thing is that God actually sees and judges your intentions and desires not what you actually accomplish.

I wouldn't worry about it. God knows what everybody wants. He can even read your mind because he's,...GOD.


I for one know what I like and Heaven to me is getting to enjoy anything I want without having to worry about running it by God all the time. If your Heaven is just serving God at the expense of ever getting to enjoy what you personally want to do, then your Heaven frightens me.

No one is capable of obeying God completely because we are sinful human beings and God does not expect that. He has never expected that. All of the laws and rules especially from the old testament were given to the people to show them they could not keep them in their own strength and the same applies to us. The law is given to show us that we are sinners and are incapable of living up to God's standard. Obeying God should be because you love Him, respect Him and are grateful to Him, not to get to heaven. That is why we need the Holy Spirit inside of us to enable us to do those things. We in our naturalness will never want anything to do with God because of our sinfulness. We must be given the nature of God in order for us to want anything to do with Him. Obedience to Him comes from Him and unless the Spirit of Christ indwells a person all that they do is useless as far as giving any glory and honor to the Lord because it comes from self which God condemns.

God has His Way, and you apparently have yours.
His Way works -
yours won't.
You are only interested in a Heaven of your own imagination.
In the true Heaven, all love, trust and worship the True God.
You MUST be born again.

God does not assume. Got does not test. He knows everything. If you think you are not His, you could be right. Enjoy this life. But you could be wrong. Someday you might change. Be disciplined in this life.
