So are you also saying that God was willing to allow immense suffering, pain, sin, and evil to enter the world for thousands of years, in order to make sure people loved him sincerely and not because they were programmed to, which would serve absolutely no purpose other than to please him?

I think that sincere love comes from mutual respect and consideration.
It seems to me that the whole deal with original sin, Heaven and Hell might produce the kind of misguided "love" feeling hostages get with Stockholm Syndrome. But it sure isnt "sincere love".
