Depends on your family. Those that choose to work could be considered heroes to those who they are filling in for.

The world does not come to a stop on thanksgiving. There are people all around the US who are having to work on that day. Besides, it depends on what sort of relationship you have with your family. Maybe you want to be away from them. Maybe you need more money. Who knows? It is not considered crazy to work on thanksgiving though.

My girlfriend is working on Thanksgiving. We'll have to cut our family time a little short. She works in retail, and the holiday weekend is one of their busiest times of the year. She would be fired if she refused to work on Thanksgiving. It's unfortunate, but we all do what's necessary to live the lifestyles we enjoy.

A lot of service industries are open for business on holidays. I work in a hospital and it is open 24/7 (of course) and I often work holidays. There are many things to be grateful for: that you have a job, that you have the opportunity to do something for someone, that there is someone(s) out there that is grateful for your service.

Hell no! In the end, no one is going to pay your bills except for you. I told my b/f I was going work on Thanksgiving too. You gotta do what you gotta do to get by and I give you props for handling your business.

Nope - it's not crazy to work on Thanksgiving. But, if you can work AND see your familty, too - that's a wonderful thing.
