Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus sayeth the Father: Ye shall have eternal life. 2 Ne 31:20

Hmm...

I seriously think that's exactly what I needed.

I stopped going to church because of someone there. We're not on the best terms right now so I just decided not to go around them...but this reminded me I should just keep going to church for Christ and not to worry about the other people.

What a wonderful verse, one of my favorites.

The "ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ," part helps me remember that I have to DO something, and the "having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men" part tells me the kind of attitude I should have - a hopeful one, with love. And then of course there is the promise that if we do this by "feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end" we will return to our Heavenly Father and have eternal life. Awesome!

Thank you for sharing. I will not remark about the two comments right above me, cuz I wouldn't be very Christlike in my response. I know this scripture is in accordance with the gospel of Christ and the bible. This is a scripture in which I "try" to model my life after. As I read it again I realize that the part that I need to work on is having a perfect brightness of hope. Sometimes my hope gives way to feelings of despair and there is no reason it should. I live a good life and I know that I am heading in the right direction as the spirit confirms it. Believing is doing. It is as simple as that.

One of my favorite verses of all time! It always reminds me of the first time I read the Book of Mormon. I was 14 years old-- just barely starting the church's seminary program. I was so young and fascinated by the scriptures and eager to finish reading the Book of Mormon for the first time. I remember reading that exact same verse you mentioned and immediately marking it and memorizing it. I still quote it once in a while to myself.

Thanks for your LDS verses of the day! I need to be reminded to "feast upon the word of Christ" more often and prioritize my scripture reading more in my life. Sometimes life gets too busy and I forget to read my scriptures daily. I need to get back on track. Thanks for the reminder!

Like Sen. McLain, I have not been feasting. With out the teachings and words of Christ it is impossible to endure to the end.

I like this verse. It reminds me of what we're actually here for, what my REAL goal is, and how much more happy I can be if I focus on the gospel instead of things that I think are so horrible in (my) life.

THIS IS A INTERPRETATION OF A VERSE OF SCRIPTURE FROM THE KING JAMES BIBLE. THIS STATEMENT IS MEANT TO ADVISE THOSE WHOM ARE SEEKING SALVATION, TO HOLD ON BELIEVING IN JESUS CHRIST, SHOULD LOVE ALL MANKIND, READ THE BIBLE, AND BE STRONG WITH WHATEVER CIRCUMSTANCES ARISE IN LIFE, AND WE SHALL BE SAVED. I THINK THESE ARE WORDS TO LIVE BY .

What's there to say? Amen?!
That says love God and thy neighbor as thyself and remain faithful throughout mortality, learning of Him as we go along. I don't see how any self respecting Christian could object to that sentiment.
There is no discord for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all that we can do.
Blessings upon you.

It was a theme of our Stake back in new york a few years back.

It reminded me not to be a one day only ( Sunday) LDS.
