Leviticus 17:11
‘For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’
The blood carries water and nourishment to every cell, maintains the body’s temperature, and removes the waste material of the body’s cells. The blood also carries oxygen from the lungs throughout the body. In 1616, William Harvey discovered that blood circulation is the key factor in physical life—confirming what the Bible revealed 3,000 years earlier. If the Bible is historically inaccurate, how did it know the value of blood 3000 years before science did?

Can anyone explain a theory of origins (universe, life, complexity) from an atheist's perspective?

I think I have a pretty good grasp on the creationist's claims, but I'm wondering if creationists can comprehend the an atheistic view?

((Of course, there's no consensus among atheists, but an explanation of any godless theory would work))

I'm a 15 year-old American and i can speak full English and i am learning intermediate Spanish. I am thinking about learning Japanese, but i have heard the writing system (katakana, kanji, etc.) is very difficult, and the sentence structure is hard for English-speakers to memorize. Would it be very hard to learn Japanese?

This is kinda a silly question but I have front row tickets to an r. Kelley concert and My Boyfriend and I are going together.
One of my co-workers told me to "be careful" cuz R. Kelley loves to find Cute woman who are with their Man from the front row to pull on stage and get kind of freaky with. here's my question if R. Kelley did pull me on stage would it be disrespectful to my Man to go or Would it be one of those once in a lifetime moments that he should understand about?
The concert is tomorrow night so we'll see... tell me what ya'll think?

according to the genesis story - which i know many here believe to be literally true - outer space is made entirely of water.

(genesis 6-7: And God said: Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament, and it was so).

so what i want to know is: if you believe that outer space is made entirely of water, why don't astronauts drown?

Budhism try to show that to be a religion you dont need to worship a higier power but to have some type of general union with a bunch of people who think the same way. Does this make them a religion? and if so, are atheist religious too?

Let's pretend your God was the kind of God that loved everyone unconditionally and wanted uncondtional love in return and as a result made it so there was no heavenly reward or hellfire punishment to motivate or threaten anyone into loving God.

Your choice was to be made COMPLETELY uncoerced with no expectation or fear of anything.

What would be your means to evangelize to a non-Christian to love and worship your God?

I worship only out of simple gratitude, awe and affection completely outside of any expectation of getting a reward or avoiding some kind of terrible doom or punishment. Do you feel the same?

"And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon." - Revelation 9:3,11 KJV.

You can't get your morals from the Bible. It teaches that you should not sin and believe in Jesus in order to avoid going to hell or to be accepted into heaven. That's not really being moral, it's being good out of fear or reward. And if you still happen to sin, you can ask just for forgiveness. It basically teaches you that you can get away with anything as long you repent.

So where do Christians get their morals?
