according to the genesis story - which i know many here believe to be literally true - outer space is made entirely of water.

(genesis 6-7: And God said: Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament, and it was so).

so what i want to know is: if you believe that outer space is made entirely of water, why don't astronauts drown?

Hmmm...I think you already know the answer to this question and how ridiculous it is, but I will explain briefly. Between earth and outer space we have a barrier, it is called our "Atmosphere" there are different levels of this "Atmosphere" and it's function is to protect earth from outside sources. Perhaps you could insert this into genesis instead of thinking it refers to outer space, just a thought.
Peace.

That water was used for the flood. Note that before that time it had never rained. (Gen. 2:5-6) After the flood, land and continents shifted to allow place for water to go.

I've wondered that too. It also says that God opened the "windows of heaven" to let that water come down during the flood.

That was probably the most garbled passage of the Bible I have ever had the unfortunate opportunity to read. I think I am now several hundred braincells less, for having read it.
