Budhism try to show that to be a religion you dont need to worship a higier power but to have some type of general union with a bunch of people who think the same way. Does this make them a religion? and if so, are atheist religious too?

Buddhism can be a religion, or a philosophy. (Depends on the type of Buddhism and the follower.)

Atheism isn't a religion. There are no practices nor any kind of rites or rituals. Not even any strongly held beliefs, as all that atheism means is lack of belief in deities.

Buddhism isn't a religion. It's a philosophy created by the Buddha. According to your logic, anyone in a club, group, or organization is considered to be religious. That's way too broad.

Buddhists have beliefs and tenets and books and scriptures, and rituals and a whole bunch of detailed rules governing behavior and dress, diet, etc etc.

Atheists just do not believe in god(s).

I think most people can see the difference.

The ring around has the right idea, we have very little in common aside from the knowledge that god is imaginary.

Technically, most forms of Buddhism are philosophy, not religion. But there are a couple of sects that deify Buddha (treat him as a god) so we call ourselves a religion to avoid excluding them :)

Yes.Atheism is the religion of Secular Humanism. It is more than a philosophy or there wouldn't be any atheists debating organized religion.

It's a philosophy, but Buddhists are so cool, they'll accept religion as a description, also.

I think that logic would qualify my old company as a religion as well.

Atheists don't all think the same way, not even close. Most of us can't even stand each other.
