Is it a convenient way to put the fear of God in them? When they ask why Noah had an ark with all of the animals, the parent then says, "because God flooded the earth once and even though he promised not to do it again, he is still going to destroy the planet and only take good little Christian boys and girls with him to heaven"?

The animals and rainbow make it all very cute and appealing, but why exposed a child to this story?

of that great day of God almighty are spirits that led to the first two world wars and presently work to bring about another world war? Is it coincidence that there are three abrahamic religions whose radical fringe groups are paving the way for the next world war?

13And I saw out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits, as frogs;

14for they are [the] spirits of demons, doing signs; which go out to the kings of the whole habitable world to gather them together to the war of [that] great day of God the Almighty.

Or should we conclude whatever the evidence most strongly suggests?

I know that Mark and Luke did not know him. I also know that Paul only saw him in a vision.

So I think that leaves Matthew and John who actually knew him.

Any others?

I'm sure you know what i'm talking about

everywhere i go, they'll be atleast 1 person who stares at me. but its not the kind of stare, where you look, make eye contact, and he/she looks away,

its the kind where your wondering "WTF?" because even when you make eye contact....for longer than 3 seconds (which seems short, but think about, its preety long when your staring at a stranger) and they don't look away.

this could be a bad thing, or a good thing.
-they could be staring at you/me because they like how we look? which could boost are ego and raise our confidence
-or they could be staring at you because your weird. which could make you overly self-conscious.

has anyone notice this? wtf is up with it?~

I will try to keep this brief...I disassociated myself several years ago. My husband was raised as a JW but was never baptised. We have a 9 year old daughter. Both of our families are JW and my husbands family would like to get together for a family portrait since they have never had one done with all of us together. Everyone is included, except me. Naturally, as a gut reaction, my husband refused for he and our daughter to be there since I was not included. My question is would this be a mandatory exclusion of me from the picture, or is this a conscience matter? I understand them not associating with me and we don't, but just standing there in a picture, is that forbidden as well? Would my in-laws be in trouble with the congregation if they did have me in the picture? Only serious answers please!

I drew my fiance Mike's younger brother in our gift name-drawing this year. He's 19, recently married and a new dad as of this August. He and his wife are really struggling to get by financially. The gifts have a $40 limit. We really want to get them something that will help them out. They could probably use the $40 more than anything else, but we don't want to insult them.

Any ideas on something creative, really useful yet not insulting (like straight cash)? We can go over the $40 a little as long as they don't know. I was thinking maybe, like, frozen meats? Like Omaha steaks, only something less expensive where they can get more. That's all I've come up with so far. Please help! We really want to use Xmas as an opportunity to help them.

Wouldn't it make more sense to have a book written in plain english.. (god knows all, he knew the united states would be 70% Xian)...that clearly stated every aspect of life, rather than using any sort of allegory, or ambiguous thoughts that could be translated 100 different ways?

Also, why do people argue that the parts that ARE straighforward aren't serious?

After having read the pamphlet that a Mormon girl gave me at my door the other day, I have a question...
In the pamphlet, it says that the true teachings of Jesus have been lost, skewed, and turned around....and that every so often, when the world is ready (when believers are searching for true teachings) a prophet will come back into the world and attempt to lead God's children back to the right path.

This being said, there was Jesus, whom you acknowledge as a prophet and savior to us all.
Then about 600 years later, Muhammed was given God's teachings from Gabriel (as the voice of God). Muhammed also states that the Children of the Book fell away from Truth and that the Koran is what we should follow now.

My question to you is this: Is Muhammed considered a prophet in your teachings, whose teachings followers also eventually forgot? Or is he automatically discounted because he believed merely that Jesus was a prophet and not a savior?

I've had some of the Q&A topics that were broached here in YA on my heart and mind for a couple of days now. The following was part of that journey in thought. Though I know it to be a controversial subject, I hope that you all can see my heart. I would truly like to know your thoughts.

Regarding the Bible....

If one believes that God is omniscient (which I do), how can anyone of that mind set not believe that He knew exactly what texts would be found, when they would be found, how and in what order they would be compiled and the exact timing of their dissemination when He had it prophetically stipulated that there should be no future inclusions or exclusions to the text? Can one point really be dismissed as "only for that specific book" when the text in its' entirety had but one ultimate author? As we follow the parallels and sinuating accounts throughout the text, can there really be a definitive segregation of intended meaning?

I've put my thick skin on, please feel free....
