i dont believe that there is no god, as equally as i dont believe there is a god.

so the question is what term shall we coin for people like me?

What should replace these old books, to help people find meaning in life ? Or something you would take on a desert island ? ( apart from "How to survive on a deserted island" guidebook )

-Lord of the Rings ( myths, monsters, fight of evil/good, and lots of added details in the Silmarillion )
-The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
-Biology and Maths introduction books
-A Brief History of Time,

Your thoughts ?

How will that effect religion? I know I'm being general. Will there be religous hybrids? How do western religions explain that God/Gods/LGM made the Earth? Will there be clashes? What are the chances that other civilizations also have monotheistic religions? Would religions have to rewrite themselves (becuase some only take Earth in consideration)? What else?

BALTIMORE - A grieving father won a nearly $11 million verdict Wednesday against a fundamentalist Kansas church that pickets military funerals out of a belief that the war in Iraq is a punishment for the nation's tolerance of homosexuality.

Church members routinely picket funerals of military personnel killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, carrying signs such as "Thank God for dead soldiers" and "God hates fags."

So whether or not your for the war or against it, Religous or non-Religous, I'm pretty sure your not going to say the reason why we have wars is because we have homosexuals in our country and are tolerant.

Since the human brain is so big - sometimes causing female pelvics to break while giving birth - wouldn`t natural selection work against humans evolving to have bigger brains?

BTW - I`m an atheist that does not deny that evolution is a fact. This question is merely a gap in my understanding - it is not some creationists attempt to prove the theory wrong.

I regularly see people claim that if they were atheist they would act without a conscience. Why isn't this true for the majority of us atheists?
Could they be right? Are we not living life to the fullest? Are we holding ourselves back unnecessarily?

I recently joined the Mensa board, but got kicked out. They ask incredibly boring questions like, "Who are the greatest intellectuals alive today" or "Prove that free will exists" or "With which great mind would you like to spend one hour if you could?" I typically responded with my own brand of humor.

Here is how I met my "demise." I simply dared to argue that the Bill of Rights itself gives us no rights. Whether I am right or wrong, I somehow thought Mensans would at least analyze my argument. Instead, the best they could say is that it was "lengthy B.S." The next thing I knew, I was kicked off their site.

Now I understand that IQ really does count for so little. It must feel good to be as stupid as a Mensan. I was dumn enough to give them my money, but now I want my money back.

I came home at 3:30 and there were several trick or treaters and their parents sitting on my front porch waiting for someone to come home! One parent muttered, "about time" as I approached. I was seething but gave out what little candy I had at that time. Not a thank you from any of them!

What's with this "early" trick or treating?

i mean we ask questions to athiest that open up the floor for them to blaspheme & mock God.when its obvious they really dont have or even want to have a clue about Jesus. Therefore becuase we know better does not give us the right to post questions to unbelivers &shake our heads and suck our teeth or even have the audacity to be offended when we already know what kind of answers these questions pose.
Case in point when you ask a question and put athiest on the main title they all gather to the question so they can make each other feel supported by the number of thumb up they give each other..that gives them validity..they use science and every other rightfully given free will to deny the existence of God. when Christians pose a question that we know is right we dont have to confirm it because we know no YA can cofirm or sway us from what we belive
My point is to be careful Christians & ask your self about motive when you pose antiatheist question lets get off our high horses & pray!

I live in a dorm. And so my roommate didn't end up going to class because i wouldn't drive her there(most of our classes are at the Inn for culinary. Since we didn't have classes today until after 5pm(some teacher thing). I told her i wasn't going to take her. Then she texted me asking if she could use my car. I told her no. She was mad so she went to sleep. She purposly missed her class. If she left when she first asked if i could have taken her she would have been there on time. But no..

and she missed an important class...i had it yesterday and its for the hardest test for the class.

How can i make her understand i'm not her driver? And get into her head she can't use my car.

You know you're a nurse if...

You believe every patient needs TLC: Thorazine, Lorazepam and Compazine.

You would like to meet the inventor of the call light in a dark alley one night.

You believe not all patients are annoying ... some are unconscious.

Your sense of humor seems to get more "warped" each year.

You know the phone numbers of every late night food delivery place in town by heart.

You can only tell time with a 24 hour clock.

Almost everything can seem humorous ... eventually.

When asked, "What color is the patient's diarrhea?", you show them your shoes.

Every time you walk, you make a rattling noise because of all the scissors and clamps in your pockets.

You can tell the pharmacist more about the medicines he is dispensing than he can.

You carry "spare" meds in your pocket rather than wait for pharmacy to deliver.

You refuse to watch ER because it's too much like the real thing and triggers "flash backs."

You check the caller ID when the phone rings on your day off to see if someone from the hospital is trying to call to ask you to work.

You've been telling stories in a restaurant and had someone at another table throw up.

You notice that you use more four letter words now than before you became a nurse.

Every time someone asks you for a pen, you can find at least three of them on you.

You can intubate your friends at parties.

You don't get excited about blood loss ... unless it's your own.

You live by the motto, "To be right is only half the battle, to convince the physician is more difficult."

You've basted your Thanksgiving turkey with a Toomey syringe.

You've told a confused patient your name was that of your coworker and to HOLLER if they need help.

Eating microwave popcorn out a clean bedpan is perfectly natural.

Your bladder can expand to the same size as a Winnebago's water tank.

When checking the level of orientation of a patient, you aren't sure of the answer.

You find yourself checking out other customer's arm veins in grocery waiting lines.

You can sleep soundly at the hospital cafeteria table during dinner break, sitting up and not be embarrassed when you wake up.

You avoid unhealthy looking shoppers in the mall for fear that they'll drop near you and you'll have to do CPR on your day off.

You've sworn you're going to have "NO CODE" tattooed on your chest.

I personally believe god was made up by people who new no better like 1000's of yrs ago and am amazed people still devote and restrict their lives (ok not really that amazed), you only live once and all that so the thought of wasting your whole life following few 1000 yr old story makes me think believers are dillusional. I think the bible is a story book/guide written by lots of people who new very little like 2000 yrs ago

"The difference between a believer and a scientist is if proof of god was given to the scientist he would then believe, whereas if proof that god did not exist was given to the believer he would still believe" Badly quoted

Real answers are found with science, not all but advanced technolgy is still relatively new, but at least it is fact, it explains us

Must add, i dont think belief is bad and i think it can help people lead very healthy lives, but alot of wars and violence is caused by religon i can't help but think people need 2 open their eyes
