I regularly see people claim that if they were atheist they would act without a conscience. Why isn't this true for the majority of us atheists?
Could they be right? Are we not living life to the fullest? Are we holding ourselves back unnecessarily?

I suppose it's true I mean since I don't believe in a deity I should go out and harm people demand their valuable objects. Lets face it those that belong to religion will put a patent and iron claim on morality and conscience. With that much said atheists are supposed to be the ones being the killers and populating jails and so on...

To me its not true that atheist would act without conscience, because some are but some are not. Although i am Buddhist, but I consider myself as atheists (being Buddhist just to honor my family), but i don't act without a conscience. And living as atheists doesn't mean life wont be fullest, if you having fun and fine with yourself, that mean your life is fullest.

Statements like that frighten me because it tells me that many Christians do good deeds and act like decent human beings just because the Bible says to do so.

Why not do those things and be kind and generous for the sake of doing so and nothing else? To me THAT is living life to the fullest.

Silly. I don't know why but some people think to associate atheists with having no morals(or conscience). Why? Couldn't be further from the truth.

I like your question. To answer it seriously, there's a difference between atheism and nihilism. I guess the nihilists probably do know how to party, but I have an overwhelming fear of prison and a conscience that will not leave me alone.

Well it seems like on here, quite a few "Christians" are acting without a conscience.
Thankfully the Christians in my life don't act like that or I might become jaded.

Well saying that atheists have no morals is the biggest lie christians tell. Other than the lie that god exists that is.
