Devotion of energy, space and time to a community of faithful believers lead by me is different for followers than devotion energy, space and time to a community of faithful believers lead by conservative ideological authorities who propagate aggressive ideological traditions that originated before the establishment of ancient paternalistic theocracies. Conservative ideological authorities who propagate aggressive ideological traditions that originated before the establishment of ancient paternalistic theocracies proclaim myth of exclusive divine revelations of spiritual knowledge contained within sacred scrolls to be truth of the discovery, will, word, and law of a good one in Heaven at war with an evil one cast down to and or ruling over Earth. I reject the lie that myth is truth. I do not claim that myth contained within this House of Ideology Manifesto is truth. I accept the truth that myth is myth. I claim that the myth and fantasy contained with this House of Ideology Manifesto is part of a model of self and world that enables me to have the highest esteem of self and world that I can possibly imagine. I think, believe and expect that if I can enable us to have the highest esteem of self and world that we can possibly imagine with the leadership, education, and entertainment provided by this House of Ideology Manifesto then we will be in the best possible position to achieve and maintain happiness and good health.

John was on the island of patmos when the Lord showed him the Book of Revelation so I say just bring the Bible. Thats all you need. And by the way, if peole think they can add to it the bible says do NOT add to this Book. All of the other answers besides the bible and i guess torah, are man made and fallable and we should just be trusting the written word of God as the guide to life. Heck! Its got everything. What more could you possibly want? Praise and Glory be to the Awesome and Almighty Creator of the Universe GOD!

Those books teach more than about good and evil, they teach values. No modern book could replace the bible without following it as a guideline in some way. And if that's the case, why make another book in the first place? Plus, people follow those scriptures more closely because they think it is divinely inspired. Whether or not you think they are, they still have a more important place in society than just a regular book.

Religious scriptures were written thousands of years ago by people who believed in witch craft, alchemy, thought storms were magical, and thought the earth was both flat and the center of the universe. The ideas in those books are out dated they preach slavery, murder, and all sorts of other horrible things.

For example in Exodus it commands the death of all who work on the sabbath

the bible also commands people to kill anyone who doesnt believe the same things

So the books i would pick are:

God is not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything

or

The God Delusion

There is absolutely no reason to replace something that is working just fine for the people who believe in it. Why would you? You really think that replacing religion with science fiction or math books is going to make people find meaning in their lives, make them happy, and make the world a better place? If so, I think you are naive. Human nature is human nature, regardless of religion. Take away religion, and people will do just like you suggest: replace it with some other nonsense. Nothing will change. So what is the point?

Why does the Bible need to be replaced at all? Books of literature and academia do not come close to being the key to finding meaning to life. The Bible's truth about meaning and purpose for our lives is timeless.

If I were atheist I would choose a song by J.Lenon: "Imagine.... you will say I 'm a dreamer... But, I'm not the only one...the world would be as one". Also, " Lord of the rings is simply georgeous" and so wonderful.
No desert island, no desperate feelings;
Yes, I think God is best, his books are so valuable for the old times , and also for the time being. Look, what the Coran says to the People of the scriptures ( Christians and Jews):
" [2:40]
O Children of Israel! Remember My favour wherewith I favoured you, and fulfil your (part of the) covenant, I shall fulfil My (part of the) covenant, and fear Me.

[2:41]
And believe in that which I reveal, confirming that which ye possess already (of the Scripture), and be not first to disbelieve therein, and part not with My revelations for a trifling price, and keep your duty unto Me.

[2:42]
Confound not truth with falsehood, nor knowingly conceal the truth.

[2:43]
Establish worship, pay the poor-due, and bow your heads with those who bow (in worship).

[2:44]
Enjoin ye righteousness upon mankind while ye yourselves forget (to practise it) ? And ye are readers of the Scripture! Have ye then no sense ?

[2:45]
Seek help in patience and prayer; and truly it is hard save for the humble-minded,

[2:46]
Who know that they will have to meet their Lord, and that unto Him they are returning.

[2:47]
O Children of Israel! Remember My favour wherewith I favoured you and how I preferred you to (all) creatures.

And they say: Be Jews or Christians, then ye will be rightly guided. Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Nay, but (we follow) the religion of Abraham, the upright, and he was not of the idolaters.

[2:136]
Say (O Muslims): We believe in Allah and that which is revealed unto us and that which was revealed unto Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the tribes, and that which Moses and Jesus received, and that which the prophets received from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and unto Him we have surrendered.
