I just saw an episode of Law and Order where the wife of a preacher was discovered to have been a ex-hooker.

In the story the woman confesses to a crime that her husband had confessed to rather than let her congregation know about her past.

If I had a dime for every ex-hooker, ex-drug addict, ex-alcoholic, ex-bad guy I met in a church I would be richer than Bill Gates.

The idea that a congregation would fall apart because the wife of a preacher used to be a hooker is so far fetched that it is as totally unbelievable as Chuck Norris killing twenty guys with a burst from an uzi.

But

It did make me think, do people think this is what Christians are like? Obviously. Law and Order is a popular television show that has been on a long time. People watch it because they think of it as being "realistic".

The only way most of the ridiculous claims about Christians in questions on this board make any sense at all to me is if people get their information from fictional television.

at church we have a "safe" thing where we decorate the trunks of our cars/entire car in a theme. We park our cars in the parking lot and fill the trunk with candy and people trick or treat from us that way. The theme we chose is the 50s. We have the usual Party City stuff. How can we go ALL OUT this year and win? I thought of christmas lights, but I dont have electricity connecting to the car. What are some "high tech" things we can do?

if your a good person, not perfect, but just nice in every way, hardworking, caring, do you believe you would go to hell if you are not saved, where as, a convicted killer on death row finds jesus and truly believes, does he go to heaven? Why is one more deserving than the other?

do you think they will wait until people forgot about her "silence of god" statement and doubting of existence?

odd how this process happens years and years afterwards, not in real time

Please ONLY respond to this question if you ALREADY are able to astral / soul travel. I need someone who is very adapted and experienced at soul travel to come to me and pull me out of my body or bring me out of my body somehow so Im aware of it.

I am willing to talk over the phone and possibly meet in person if needed. If your genuine and successful in doing this for me, I will pay good money.

This is NOT a joke but dead serious and I only want people you ALREADY astral / soul travel to respond.

Thanks

Even harmless things like trick or treat have pagenistic meanings. They gave treats to ward off spirits. Jack O laterns, witches lit them to do spells. Every bit is terrible and wrong. Any1 agree?

I hear "believers" fall into the trap of humans only being here for 6000+ years due to biblical ages (more bad teaching from TV evangelists).

As there is no record of Adam's or Eve's age prior to eating the forbidden fruit, man could have been here for ten million years before they sinned. Your thoughts please?

I went to volunteer today at the library. While I was shelving books, a woman came up to me and asked me to remove my hijab because it "greatly offended" her. I refused, of course, because I NEVER display my hair in public. The woman went over to the head librarian and complained that I was somehow "violating" her. Fortunately, the head librarian told the lady that I had the perfect right to express my religious customs and that I was not doing anything wrong by wearing the hijab. The woman angrily left the library and gave me a mean look as she walked toward the exit.

Trust me, I did not even do anything at all to that woman and was only minding my own business. United States is one of the countries where you can freely practice your religion and its beliefs. How can she be offended?

I personally don't think it is. I think there are more differences between nationalities than skin color. There are a lot of general cultural differences between black people and white people. I think we handle issues differently. We deal with fear and anger differently. There are good and bad people in every race.

There are, of course, many exceptions, and the only thing I consider racist is to generalize every member of a nationality to represent their stereotype. To acknowledge that makes you not racist (in my opinion). Some black people may "act white", meaning they take on many aspects of white people culture and behavior, and some white people "act black", meaning they take on aspects of black people culture and behavior.

I can think of many examples and why I don't think it's racist to say someone acts a different race. Depending on how you say it is what makes it sound racist.

I've seen some say the suicide is a sin because you are going against the will of god by ending your own life.... but what about using medical care? Is that also a sin? You are going against the will of god, who apparently wanted you to die.

So for those who heard about the whole Hallie Berry story ( for those who haven't: on a talk show she was showing some digitally modified pictures of herself and commented on one where she has a big nose that that was her jewish cousin and now everyone is making a massive deal out of it). Don't you think people are overreacting here?

I mean if i showed you a picture of myself with an afro and said "This is my black cousin" (because obviously black people are known to have very curly hair, just like jewish people are known for their prominant noses) would you get offended? Or am i the only one who finds this whole story a bit crazy?

Today, in the era of mega churches, I don't seem to hear any pastors or preachers, talking about the over use of our natural resources. We are taking and taking from the land God is providing, and we are giving nothing back, but pollution. This is important because bees are dieing. Though many people only believe they are good for honey. they are responsible for pollinating our fruit and vegetables, and without them we are going to lose most of our food supply. God didn't make process foods that we are eating, but he did provide for us the wonderful and juicy fruit, that we are not very appreciative of. I think it is as important to talk of love, and forgiveness, as it is to talk about the things we are doing to this wonderful earth that god decided to make. It was the first thing that he made. That must mean that it is very important. Remember he made the earth first humans second. He also gave us control over the land and the sea, and we are not living up to our responsiblities.
