Fertile, producing fruit and other crops
There is nothing but sand and very rocky hills that are mostly overgrown with scrub. The few MODERN agricultural plots there by the coast are obviously artificially executed with modern irrigation systems. Now I do not claim to be a farmer, but this does not look like any kind of actual cropland that I have ever seen. Maybe some fruit trees have lived there at some point in the past. That's as good as it gets. But fertile, crop land? Not hardly. Smith got this one WRONG.
Suitable for construction and launching of ships
What does that supposedly, mean? Suitable for building and launching ships? This is TOTAL nonsense. While I am not much of a farmer, I AM a pretty darn good sailor - been sailing for 12 years. And there is nothing there for ship building. NOTHING suitable in this geography for building and launching ships.. It doesn't fit.. IHS Jim

I'm a God-believer (I believe in God's grand design) taking an anthropology class, currently believe in evolution for the most part, and I am not trying to prove any point here by asking this question. it's a genuine question so please help me if you can. are the missing links in the evolutionary chain up to homo sapien significant flaws? How surprising is it to evolutionists that we have such little fossil evidence in these missing time periods? Is it possible that humans popped out of nowhere (that God really had to take a rib out of Adam to create woman... even if you don't believe in God you know what I mean..."popped into the picture out of nowhere") please don't insult me for believing in both God and evolution... I've always questioned how people translate almost anything, but I do believe the bible is God's word, so please respect that. thanks.

I am just curious about people who believe salvation is based upon faith and works. How do you know when you have done enough work? Do you constantly worry you have not done enough and thus are not saved?

I know the verses supporting how we are saved. I am not asking for them. I just want to know how people that believe they have to work for their salvation know they have done enough.

anyone know where I can find a good mask or make-up to make my face look like Mr. Hyde from the 1932 movie Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with Fredric March?, I just saw that movie last week and I thought that it would make a very good, scary Halloween costume, I'm sure I could find fake monster teeth that resembles him, but anyhow about the mask or make-up?

The last televised junk science I recently viewed was about the "Big Rip", In other words, the universe will reach it's limit of expansion and all matter will be torn asunder. If that can make the DIscovery Channel, my Theory Of Creation should be a shoe in. Your thoughts.

A respectable Jehovah’s Witness recommended that I attend a Kingdom Hall. Considering I agree with some Jehovah’s Witness doctrines, such as what is commonly called “soul sleep,” this doesn’t seem like it is such a bad idea. On the other hand, there are many things the Jehovah’s Witnesses teach (or have taught) that I disagree with, especially when it comes to eschatology (I’m a partial-preterist). So my question to you Jehovah’s Witnesses is this: would the average Jehovah’s Witness congregation mind a more mainstream Christian regularly attending their congregation? Would they accept a non-denominational Christian or would they require him to convert to their own denomination? Can anyone give me some information on this?

The reason I ask is because I have heard stories of Jehovah’s Witnesses converting to more mainstream Christian denominations and being disowned by their families and local congregations.

I know that going out on Halloween is alright to some Catholics, I did it when I was a kid, but I don’t let my kids attend now since I have learn a few things about the past. I noticed today that they were doing a celebration at church a Halloween/ All saints day festival, but the kids were all suppose to dress like their favorite saint.

My question is, instead of changing what kids wear, why just go with out it? It’s not like that day is All saints day, that’s the next day. You don’t celebrate Christmas a day early, or Easter so why this one?

You know those women who say "I dont/never want kids.." and then those are "I want kids sooo bad...." or "I wish I could have kids soooo bad..." well is a woman who does not DESIRE to bear children a waste? Think of all the women out there who would LOVE to have their own children but cannot for some health reason, or they just did not have the chance or means to do it. We women are Gods products in producing miracles; children. And for a woman to not want to utilize her female organs.... is it a waste??? Just think of all the women who would love to have children but cant.

I was born and raised a Catholic. The father of my children was born and raised Pentecostal.
I don't want my kids to lead the Pentecostal lifestyle and he doesn't want the kids to lead a Catholic lifestyle.
The reasons why I will not state here...
I figure to let it be and let the kids make up their own minds...
Opinions on this subject will appreciated....

My neighbor Joe and I share a mailslot. Two months ago, there was a letter for Mr. X in the mail. I don't know a Mr. X, so I put the mail in Joe's box. I did this for about a month. After a month, if Joe got home first, he would put Mr. X's mail in my box. When he did this, I realized that Mr. X did not live in our condo and the mail should probably just go in the trash.

So, the trend has been: If Joe comes home first, he puts Mr. X's mail in my box and I throw it away. When I come home first, I put Mr. X's mail in Joe's box, and he throws it away. Until this Saturday. I got the mail first, so I put it in Joe's box. When I saw my mailbox again that day, Joe had put Mr. X's mail in my box. I put it back in Joe's box- being playful. Later, Mr. X's mail was in my box with a note "do not put this in mail box." I don't want a war with Joe, but I won't be bullied either. Why is it ok for him to put Mr. X's mail in my box, but I can't? I want to ignore him. Its just mail. Advice?
