Fertile, producing fruit and other crops
There is nothing but sand and very rocky hills that are mostly overgrown with scrub. The few MODERN agricultural plots there by the coast are obviously artificially executed with modern irrigation systems. Now I do not claim to be a farmer, but this does not look like any kind of actual cropland that I have ever seen. Maybe some fruit trees have lived there at some point in the past. That's as good as it gets. But fertile, crop land? Not hardly. Smith got this one WRONG.
Suitable for construction and launching of ships
What does that supposedly, mean? Suitable for building and launching ships? This is TOTAL nonsense. While I am not much of a farmer, I AM a pretty darn good sailor - been sailing for 12 years. And there is nothing there for ship building. NOTHING suitable in this geography for building and launching ships.. It doesn't fit.. IHS Jim

And this area in the garden spot of the southern coast of the Arabian Peninsula.. LDS scientists have known "for 50 years" about DNA evidence linking American Indians to Asian ancestry rather than Hebrew blood. "For some reason, these two men think this shocked us. It's been something we've been dealing with for a very, very long time." Does that kill the whole story line on the BofM? IHS Jim
