I went to volunteer today at the library. While I was shelving books, a woman came up to me and asked me to remove my hijab because it "greatly offended" her. I refused, of course, because I NEVER display my hair in public. The woman went over to the head librarian and complained that I was somehow "violating" her. Fortunately, the head librarian told the lady that I had the perfect right to express my religious customs and that I was not doing anything wrong by wearing the hijab. The woman angrily left the library and gave me a mean look as she walked toward the exit.

Trust me, I did not even do anything at all to that woman and was only minding my own business. United States is one of the countries where you can freely practice your religion and its beliefs. How can she be offended?

That woman was an idiot, plain and simple.

If anyone did anything like that to me I would flatly tell them to jump of a cliff and go back to what I was doing.

My oppinion of the Book of Mormon is not exactly " it's the best book in the world" but "wow it feels so good to read this and understand it" i'll say this, keep reading the Book of Mormon you are lucky to have such an interest. thank you for asking this question. I have read parts of the book of mormon being as i am LDS and although i do not have a strong testimony in said book, but I'm trying it saddens my heart to hear all these put-downs of Joseph Smith. I feel like he wasn't the little red thing with horns a tail and a three pronged staff. you can find plenty of referances on how kind he was in the days before he was murdered and does it not say in the bible " thou shalt not kill" s how can you say that joseph was bad when 1) you were not there when he was 2) you can't say that the Book of Mormon is a peice of flying f*ck unless, like you so kindly said, you have read it. so unless you have read the Book of Mormon with an open heart and have asked god wether it is true or not do not say anything. . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . ,.-‘”. . . . . . . . . .``~., . . . . . . . .. . . . . .,.-”. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .“-., . . . . .. . . . . . ..,/. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ”:, . . . . . . . .. .,?. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .\, . . . . . . . . . /. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ,} . . . . . . . . ./. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ,:`^`.} . . . . . . . ./. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ,:”. . . ./ . . . . . . .?. . . __. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . :`. . . ./ . . . . . . . /__.(. . .“~-,_. . . . . . . . . . . . . . ,:`. . . .. ./ . . . . . . /(_. . ”~,_. . . ..“~,_. . . . . . . . . .,:`. . . . _/ . . . .. .{.._$;_. . .”=,_. . . .“-,_. . . ,.-~-,}, .~”; /. .. .} . . .. . .((. . .*~_. . . .”=-._. . .“;,,./`. . /” . . . ./. .. ../ . . . .. . .\`~,. . ..“~.,. . . . . . . . . ..`. . .}. . . . . . ../ . . . . . .(. ..`=-,,. . . .`. . . . . . . . . . . ..(. . . ;_,,-” . . . . . ../.`~,. . ..`-.. . . . . . . . . . . . . . ..\. . /\ . . . . . . \`~.*-,. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ..|,./.....\,__ ,,_. . . . . }.>-._\. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .|. . . . . . ..`=~-, . .. `=~-,_\_. . . `\,. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .\ . . . . . . . . . .`=~-,,.\,. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .\ . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . `:,, . . . . . . . . . . . . . `\. . . . . . ..__ . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .`=-,. . . . . . . . . .,%`>-- :D i like this guy ;)

Assalamu Alaikum:

Some people in the dunyah will hate you for being Muslim because they have a bad heart. Some people because they don't understand anything about the religion other than what people who don't like it have told them. InshaAllah a year from now or something you might see this Woman again and she will be wearing hijab and she will give you Salaams. Who knows. This sounds weird but maybe you should have given her Dawah. You can imagine what the Sahaba and Sahabiya went through in the early days of Islam. Look at what some of the non-Muslims are saying, they are asking why do you have these people who say they are true Muslims going around killing people. It is a valid question so you and I we have to show the non-Muslims that this not what Islam is about. The thing is you are going to have non-Muslims tell you your religion is no good and you are no good and so on you just have to step back and invite to them to what is good.

If anyone wants to hear what Muslim Sisters say about Hijab go here:

Some people can't respect and tolerate the views of anyone who doesn't have the same views they do. Others single out particular groups, often because they misunderstand or stereotype people. My philosophy is to be tolerant of those who tolerate me.
Concerning religion, the Bill of Rights is clear on this point. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. In the USA you have a right to be Islamic, provided you respect the rights of others.

Though I never believed in any hostility against Islam, But you know it is deep rooted, Europeans hate Turkey, not because they ruled him, Because they were muslims, Crusade wars was the start of this intense rivalry between Islam and christianity, It still exists, Very famous French writer Voltaire, who is considered Icon for modern secularism and humanist, wrote book against Prophet of Islam "Ou le Fanatisme Mahomet" The fanaticsm of Muhammad....

This is very unfortunate that people blame Islam for their problems, It can only be reduced if there are dialogue on several fronts between Christianity and Islam
But as a muslim we have to respect Christians and jews, in order to win their heart

Peace upon all humanity

The thing is that while we were established as a country where you can freely practice your religion and it's belief there are many members of certain religions who don't quite get the concept and believe that they must foist their beliefs on the rest of the of the world. They actually think they are helping you by trying to cram their myths and intolerance down your throat. Any one with different beliefs or religion is offending them.
Basically what I'm saying is that there are intolerant douche bags everywhere. Unfortunately most of them have no idea.

well she was very rude and offensive, if she can't respect your right to dress as you see proper then she shouldn't be there. those people are weird, they harrass others then say they are offended? just like when a few idiots answered a question about hijab saying that wearing it or asking about it or about islam is rude. they should stop insulting us and harassing us whenever they want . they should try doing something useful.

It is very sad, but in America many Islams are looked at angrily upon. I dont mean to offend, but your radicals have done much harm to many people. We hear on the news all the time about an arabic bombing. Most of America is rather easily convinced to believe anything. You get the impression that a whole people is bad when you see some being bad. If your radicals would discontinue there anger and not take the killing people part of the koran seriously like most muslims dont, people would begin to stop acting so ignorant.

that is very sad to be honest
you should have told her that her face was offending you but at least you could take the Hijab off at night
( sorry I am feeling sarcastic lol )

I had my own experience once concerning Islam with a lady in a shop
I am not Muslim , but was picking up a copy of the Qran to read and study
the lady said rather loudly ...
dont buy that , it is a fake God ... it isn't the one true living God
some people just have no respect for others
