This is a good question. The Bible speaks more often about our responsibility to be good stewards of God's creation than it does about homosexuality. Yet you can mobilize thousands of church-goers to march against same-sex marriage at the drop of a hat, while virtually no churches ever hold an Earth Day service, or even recycle regularly!
Sadly, things like conservation of natural resources, respect for and kindness to all living things and a love of nature (for purposes other than shooting at it) have become synonymous with "weak" or "bleeding heart." Too many churches have cast their lot with hard-right conservatives (who are only interested in "conserving" their own wealth) and now have a hard time aligning with what is seen as a left-wing cause.
It's an example of selective Biblical application - stressing the parts of God's Word that you agree with and ignoring the parts that require sacrifice or effort, the parts that are...well..the inconvenient Truth.
But there are churches out there that are advocates for the environment, led by progressive, thoughtful pastors, priests and lay leaders. Just keep looking! They need people like you who care.

Most churches are more concerned about the state of the souls in the world, not the state of the physical world. They are trying to save the people, not the land.
Im also not saying that people should be dumb and just pollute everything and use all our natural recources. We do have to live here till Jesus comes back and we dont know when that will be. Each person should do what they can to minimise thier impact on our world. I used to work for a solar panel installation company. My work directly resulted in far less pollution and energy waste by using a renewable recourse for energy.
There has to be a balance.
but at the same time I really think people souls are more important then the earth. after all this earth will have a finite life, yet our souls will live forever.
We should focus on helping people find Christ while trying not to destroy our temporary home.

Let me help with your questions nw!
The mission that was given to God's disciples was to spread the gospel, gospel means good news!
The good news that God loves us so much as His created beings, that He did the unspeakable, and sent His son to die in our place!
Because His laws are eternal, He could not change the fact that the wages of sin is death, so He had to find a way to allow us all to have the chance to eternal life through His son Jesus! This was the commission in the beginning, and still is till His return soon! So the mission of the church was to save souls not mother earth!
In 2nd Peter 3:10 you will find that God is going to destroy this earth with fire, and after 1000 years will re-create a new earth, so man trying to save the earth which will be destroyed soon is folly.
Here it is:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
2 Peter 3:10 (KJV)
If God had made humans (Adam and Eve) first, without the earth, where would He have put them? Creating man from the dust of the earth was His crowning achievement! Yes He put us in charge, or to have dominion over everything he had created on earth!
The cause of the decline of our planet started when Eve and Adam sinned! Remember the wages of sin is death! This began the decay of God's created planet that was perfect until they succumbed to satan and his lie and sinned.
God's plan is to rid the universe of all evil, and then re-create the earth to perfection, along with us being immortal to tend to it, with the New Jerusalem here on earth as His headquarters for the entire universe!

The Bible does teach us to be "good stewards of the manifold grace of God" (1 Pet 4:10), "And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it" (Gen 2:15).
As nature left to itself will not grow most productively, "God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth." (Gen 1:28).
And stewardship applies to all that is under our control, and the reason the church wastes things is because we are too much at home in "Babylon", and "at ease in Zion."
But while it is consistent with Christian faith to care well for temporal things, the biggest concern for the church is to be eternal souls, as Christ did not die to save the whales but human souls. And that is where it all begins.
(1 Pet 3:18) "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:"
(Acts 3:19) "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;"

Some do; this is one of the things that is beginning to split the Conservative Christians. Several of them, though, think it's God's doing, or the world's going to end soon so it's "unimportant". Some of them, also, try to call it all a lie or faulty science (and throw it and a lot of other science out the window).

Their are plenty of Christian ministry's that are talking about protecting the earth. They even had ads on TV about the responsibility of Christians to protect the planet because God made it and He is the real owner of it. He is only, so to speak, "leasing" it to us temporarily until He comes back to reclaim ownership. If we have to answer to Him for our actions then He is certainly going to want to know what we did with His planet while it was in our hands.

I think it is because if they talk about healing the planet, it takes away on the premise of their beliefs, that being life after death. I read a post on her that said, "why worry about what won't last when there is eternity to think about". Translation: the world is gonna end anyway so why care? Pretty sad isn't it?

Mega preachers are in it for the money, they prey on the fear they also help to instill in their "flocks" and promise some miracle where god will fix everything as long as they keep giving the preachers money.

churches don't talk about taking care of earth because they are more concerned, and actually looking forward to its destruction so that they can go up to fantasy land. Seriously, they generally don't care because according to them, the end of the world is very soon
