Muslim's will quote Yusuf Ali’s comment in footnote 663, as proof that the three early Christian sects of Marcion, Docetism, Basilides, denied the crucifixion of Christ. Given the fact the three sects are condemned as false teachers, deceivers and the anti-Christ in six Bible passages (1 John 1:1,14; 2:22; 4:1-3; 5:6; 2 John 7) My question is: on what basis do you claim they are Christian sects and isn't it as much of a misrepresentation for you to quote these Gnostic sects as Christians who deny the crucifixion, as it would be a misrepresentation for Christians to quote the Baha'i faith as proof Muhammad was not the final Prophet?

Some more specific questions:

Do you thank people who take the time to thoughtfully answer your questions?

Do you normally thank people who hold a door open for you?

Do you normally thank waiters/waitresses and bagboys/baggirls?

When you call a company, do you thank the represenatitve after the conversation is finished?

It seems to me that social conventions surrounding the use of "thanks" are changing. If you answer any of the questions above, please explain why or why not.

Thanks everyone!

For as with God, people only know that for some inexplicable reason, mass generates an invisible force that pulls objects toward it. The force itself cannot be seen, only felt. We simply accept the belief that it is, versus knowing what it is and why it works in the manner that it does. We also know that without it, we could not exist.

Just if he would turn the Nile River into blood, or walk on water, or rain food down on some hungry folks, or if some holy guy would ride a chariot into heaven, or if he would just stop the sun like Joshua did.

He can do that stuff, but why won't he? He did really wild miracles to free the Hebrew slaves, like releasing twenty billion frogs into the city; and he wouldn't even do those kind of miracles to free the American slaves two hundred years ago.

All I'm saying is, I'd like to see a couple of really stupendous miracles.

(And don't come on here telling me about piddly miracles. If you got nothing to say, don't say it.)

Instead of just saying God did it they come up with ridiculous natural explanations to answer for the Bible.

Things like:

-An ice or water canopy to explain the Great Flood.
-Since all species of animals and their food couldn't fit in the Ark, they say "generic animals" went into the Ark and super-evolved into all the different species in a few generations after the Flood.
-They say the super continent Pangaea existed 4500 years ago even when continental drift travels about the same speed as your fingernails grow. (It would have to around 90000 times faster than it is now =P)

And this is only for the Great Flood!!

Why do they make it hard on themselves?

...we are IT for intelligent life forms in our solar system. Doesn't this prove that we are insignificant and on our own? What makes us so important?

You are talking to a pretty young lady. You really want to impress her. You never thought that you would get the chance but here it is. Everything seems right. The mood, timeing, music, atmosphere. She says something funny and you lightly laugh through your nose and then SUDDENLY!!!! THE LARGEST MUCUS BUBBLE THAT YOU HAVE EVER BLOWN THROUGH YOUR LEFT NOSTRIL HAS JUST MATIRIALIZED, GROWN TO THE SIZE OF A PING PONG BALL, AND EXPLODED IN SUCH A WAY THAT YOU KNOW THAT SHE MUST HAVE EVEN FELT IT ON HER FACE.

What do you do to save the moment?

I went to a lecture on Creationism yesterday, here is what I've learned:

1)Evolution = Atheism, by definition (As a Christian evolutionist, that struck me pretty badly)
2)There is no distinction between the following: Big bang, Origin of life, abiogenesis and evolution. IT IS ALL THE SAME THING
3)Evolution is wrong because it states that men came from monkeys (acctualy i didn’t “learn” that yesterday, the guy giving the lecture took about 3 seconds to explain the ancestral relation stuff)
4)Both the first and second law of thermodinamics disproove the whole big bang-life-abiogenesis-evolution combo.
5) It is very good to take a quotation from an evolutionist researcher completly out of context. It is also no big deal to make stuff up to back up your arguments (after all lieing is not a sin, unlike evolution)

In my brief story as a Christian, i've had some heated up religious arguments, also i've read some stuff written by atheists and even some movies, and I tell you NONE of it shook my faith as badly as that lecture yesterday!

Thats it

I heard my friend talking about this haunted house that is 10 floors and you get $10 for each floor you pass. Each floor though gets scarier as you go on. It also goes that no one has made it to the end. There was no part about you letting them touch you because most of those Haunted House myths that mention that are false. So if a haunted house like this exists can someone pleas tell me what and where it is.
