I went to a lecture on Creationism yesterday, here is what I've learned:
1)Evolution = Atheism, by definition (As a Christian evolutionist, that struck me pretty badly)
2)There is no distinction between the following: Big bang, Origin of life, abiogenesis and evolution. IT IS ALL THE SAME THING
3)Evolution is wrong because it states that men came from monkeys (acctualy i didn’t “learn” that yesterday, the guy giving the lecture took about 3 seconds to explain the ancestral relation stuff)
4)Both the first and second law of thermodinamics disproove the whole big bang-life-abiogenesis-evolution combo.
5) It is very good to take a quotation from an evolutionist researcher completly out of context. It is also no big deal to make stuff up to back up your arguments (after all lieing is not a sin, unlike evolution)
In my brief story as a Christian, i've had some heated up religious arguments, also i've read some stuff written by atheists and even some movies, and I tell you NONE of it shook my faith as badly as that lecture yesterday!
Thats it

Do not let this lecturer shake your faith any longer and please dismiss him for what he is: an ignorant buffoon.
This person knows nothing about evolution, creationism OR Christianity!
I like what Scientist James Tour has this to say about this debate:
"I hope that’s OK—I mean for me, a scientist and a Christian, to be unsure of a few things in both science and Christianity since the question is neither fundamental to my standing as a scientist (which is based primarily upon my scholarly peer-reviewed publications) or to my salvation as a Christian (which is based upon the finished work of Jesus Christ, my confession in him as Savior and my belief in his resurrection from the dead)."

I'll attack the thermodynamic arguments.
If they were true, life could not exist. One of the criteria of life is homeostasis, maintaining internal conditions. Homeostasis is disrupted by entropic changes. In order for life to exist, it must expend energy (basal metabolism). This input of energy, chemical energy, usually comes from food, but plants convert sunlight to chemical energy via photosynthesis. This input of energy sustains life.
The energy is also used in replication. Chemical energy is the source of energy in replication. Replication is not perfect. Some errors produce disadvantages that tend to be eliminated over time. The rare advantageous error thend to proliferate. That is evolution, a consequence of life.

Wow, it sounds like you are an intelligent guy. I am glad that you got to see the ugly under-belly of fundamentalist christianity. If you feel drawn to Christianity stay away from those guys! It is so important to have integrity. It stuns me that there are some christians who think that the end justifies the means. Isn't that the same situational ethics they condemn?

Creationists have no evidence of their own, and their entire argument DEPENDS solely on futile attempts to discredit the theory of evolution. They have failed to do this for over 100 years now, so they are forced to resort to spreading misinformation and lies. It's shameless.

That's because Creationism is NOT about finding the truth, but manipulating people psychologically instead...

i will agree that evolution is a lie of Satan ,and that is how
he is decieving people and calling God a liar, which is an
untruth because the earth did not just appear and be as
well organized as it is in everyway.
