I'm thinking for religious reasons... but I'm not religious...
I read a book stating that the real reasons people oppose gay marriage is because they "think it's repulsive" and so on...
My hypothesis is as good as yours, but I think people might even be intimidated by gay people. I'll give someone (who thinks gay people shouldn't be married) 5 bucks to live with a gay person for 1 day. :)

I'm not gay btw.

Since this seems like the hot topic of the night. Let's break it down and discuss it at a more detailed level.

Excluding abortions due to rape, incest, fetal abnormalities, and the health of the mother which account for less than 5% of the abortions in the USA.(thanks to Morganie). Do you agree that having an abortion is a completly selfish act?

If you do not agree, tell me why, something else beside the "couldn't give the child the life he/she deserved".

We could have the "couldn't give the child the life he/she deserved" as a follow up question. Do you think this argument is used so the person having the abortion can feel like they made a sacrafice? Again, if you don't agree please tell me why.

My answer? no. Legislation cannot create morality. Prohibition did not stir moral outrage against drinking; it stirred outrage against Prohibition itself, and promoted widespread disrespect for all laws.

Mormon and some Fundamentalist churches believe in personhood at conception; Judaism holds that it begins at birth and abortion is not murder; ensoulment theories vary widely within Protestantism. The religious community will never reach consensus on the definition of a "person" or when abortion is morally justified. So isn't the 'when it becomes a life' not a valid point in the argument?

Just answer yes or no there's no judge to tell you which answer is right. A best answer might be chosen by me or I may put it to a vote. I repeat I am no judge to decide if what you say is right or wrong. If this question is offensive let that be your answer. Also if he is not the best example, who in your opinion is?

Do you answer questions with an eye to providing real information and/or guidance to the person asking, or are you hoping to convert people to your way of thinking?
Do you provide facts, and give sources in your answer whenever possible?
Do you give your own beliefs as facts, or do you generally preface your answer with "I believe" or "I think"?
If you are someone who has no belief in a god, do you give hateful answers thinking you are being "witty"? Or do you acknowledge that just because you don't believe doesn't necessarily make something not true?
People's religious beliefs are the most precious and dearly held beliefs they have. Are you understanding when you deal with this topic, or are you a "class clown"? Do you worry about hurting someone's feelings, and do you think you ought to?
I'm curious about how people respond to this category...and why.
Thanks in advance for your answers!

My sister and I have just moved into an apartment complex. Our neighbors upstairs have dogs. They let their dogs do their business on their balcony and then they sweep it off. It lands in our back patio. While I don't have a problem with dogs it is really disgusting. We don't have dogs and don't want to clean up their dogs' messes. We just moved in and don't want to make enemies. It's just really disgusting and it also smells.

How does SHIVA (The Unbound in Hinduism) relate to the Culture of Hinduism?

I am trying to find the relationship of Shiva (The Unbound...the statue with multiple arms) to the Hindu culture.

Does anybody know a good source where I can clearly find this relationship? Are there any Hindu's that would like to give me their perspective?

Thank you :)

I work at a fast food restaurant..when there is bad people that come in..you get the worst...lol. But there was a black trucker that came in. Nice lookin and stuff...seemed nice. I'm not racist...or anything. Because I dont even live around any kind of different races unless they are foster kids...you know.
ANYWAYS...he ordered something...gave me his money..and when i said his change was 15.03 im use to people just reaching out their hand holding out their hand. We were kinda busy in the drive through so i just laid his money on the counter. Helped the other get the food. Well..after he got his order..he gave me this really bad look..i mean really mean look towards me. He was like "why did you lay my money down on the counter for" I thought he was just joking cuz he seemed nice. But he remained his ugly face...he said thank you to the girl that made his icee and just looked at me and walked out. I dont know what i did wrong...cuz i always lay the money if they dont answer.

I don't know about you, but suicide sounds much more pleasant than drowning in my own fluids in a sterile hospital waiting for natural death, like most elderly people do.

Why is it so horrible to consider rat poison when the time comes?

2 willing to kill already born and medically trained doctors who could save already born lives and ease suffering just because they also might perform a legal medical procedure to end a dangerous or unwanted pregnancy?
2 Support capital punishment which should be equal in their minds to retroactive abortions?
