I don't know about you, but suicide sounds much more pleasant than drowning in my own fluids in a sterile hospital waiting for natural death, like most elderly people do.

Why is it so horrible to consider rat poison when the time comes?

Because even the POSSIBILITY of another happy moment in your life is worth way more than any amount of pain.

Some people's lives becomes hopeless and painful long before they get old. The thing is with suicide, it may leave someone else's life hopeless and painful and I think that is the most asinine thing a person could do to another person.
I speak from experience.

Not rat poison. A nasty way to die.

Morphine overdose would be my pick.

As for why not:

Because you are interfering in God's plan for you. Quite how they know that God did not plan for you to commit suicide I am not quite sure . . .

In reality, any religion with a heaven has to make suicide forbidden. Otherwise the believers would all just top themselves as soon as they were reasonably certain that they were on God's 'nice' list rather than the 'naughty' one. In fact killing your children at birth, while they are innocent, would be doing them a huge favor.

Any religion that is like this is going to die off fast, so we are left with the ones that send you to hell for not suffering enough.

I think the big issue is this: we are not sure what comes after this life. Many people have ideas based on their beliefs, but that is faith, no fact.

When someone chooses to end their life, we are scared for them because we don't know what's coming. What if there's nothing? What if wallowing in your own fluids is better, because at least you're alive?

I hope that helps!

Actually, death in a hospital is anything but natural.
Medical doctors are afraid of letting people die.
And family members are often reluctant to allow their loved ones to die.
We no longer know how to decide when the treatment is worst than the disease.

It seas in the Bible that if you commit suicide you will go to hell. IF you have even the smallest respect for God you will not do so. Suicide is the devil telling you that your life has no meaning. The Bible tells us we do have a meaning and that is to serve God so that when it is time for us to go we can enjoy ourselves for ever

Think about it, just a little more and forever you will be happy, forever! But if suicide is commited you will regret it. If you have the smallest and i mean smallest belief in God and his promiss to us then wait. God has a plan for every one. Everything happens for a reason.

Because some people think EVERYONE should live by their beliefs.

It's fine for those who want to endure years of extreme pain, degredation (and cost), because god said so. But they need to stop trying to make choices for everyone else.

I have contemplated suicide many times before. I will submit though to my "destiny" if you can call it that. However I will die I will die. I just hope I die in my sleep.
