I'd rather have the hug. At least the person hugging me is actively doing something in an attempt to make me feel better.
I've always thought saying "I'll pray for you" was a great way to /appear/ to be doing something good without having to actually do anything at all. How lazy.

I want the hug, I can pray for myself if I have to, but hugging myself is rather hard....especially since I am a little on the heavy side. It just doesn't feel the same and my arms won't reach all the way around anymore. :(

That's going to depend on the person. If it is someone that I know, whose personal hygiene is above reproach...then I would really like a hug. If it's a stranger or a person of dubious grooming practices then they can pray if they like...as long as I don't have to touch them with any part of myself that can't be washed in a hand sink.

i'd have both....there is power in prayer, and it also gives a lot of comfort, but then again hugs are nice as well. the physical contact gives a lot of comfort, and is very reassuring and gives you a "Safe" feeling.

A hug. Prayers are between people and their god(s). Hugs are between people. How people relate to the gods is none of my business...and certainly doesn't affect my mood.

If I fell, I would want a hug. If was suffering from depression, I would want (real) prayer. A hug wouldn't be bad either.
