I am a single mother, and my best friend is about as opposite as she can be from me. I'm making a toast at her wedding as the maid of honor in about a week, and was thinking of saying something like, "I remember when Rachel got home from the mission trip her and Jake both went on in January of 2006. She squealed about him for about an hour while I cleaned out my refridgerator, and I remember thinking, "This guy is the one. She's going to get married first! But hey, I had a child out of wedlock first, so I guess we're even." I'm thinking it's too tacky. What do you think? Any advice?

sometimes people go through much suffering before developing faith and love in God- before then they don't really believe.. so what if hypothetically they were struck down before this change of heart was allowed to occur? would they be punished in the same way as if they had never been religious?

...wouldn't Matt 21:21 be a bit of a contradiction?

("Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.")

...why would He have Moses lead the Jews out of Egypt?

...why would He oppose breakthroughs in stem cell research which give the potential to add renewed value to otherwise broken and destroyed lives?

...why would He condemn to hell those who think for themselves, and do not choose to rely on His help?

I came up with gnomes, and possibly dwarves. Pluto was the god of the underworld. What are some other underground "beings"?

I already have an opinion..I just want to know what you think....
This is mostly for those who don't like the Bible...
Can the Bible be trusted...Tell me why...
People are always telling me they don't trust the Bible, or like it, but they never prove to my why...
I can't believe you until you SHOW me why....
Show, don't tell...

Why don't you believe in the Bible (or do)??

I've got three. There was one where two people dressed up as pizza delivery guys (including boxes!) and another person as the pizza van. Another was someone made a giant fly swatter, with a fly head in the middle and a hole for them to put their own head. Also, there was someone who dressed as a martini with tiny drink umbrellas and straws sticking out of her hair.

Does anyone know?

We all know that Adam and Eve were sinless before eating the fruit.

We all know that God intended for them to reproduce children.

We also know that being naked for them was nothing to be ashamed of and they felf nothing wrong about looking at each others naked bodies.

If Adam looks at Eve's naked body feeling nothing, then how could he get an erection?

Without an erection how would he be able to reproduce?

It was only after He sinned by eating the fruit that He felf aroused by looking at Eve's naked body.

Another point worth looking at was the fact that Adam was feeling to guilt, shame, or any sinfulness as He was pure as an animal having no sense of sin in his mind. He did not know sin.

Then how come Adam sinned when he did not understand it?

Why would God consider Adam sinful when he did not even understand sin until after He ate the fruit?

You won't blame a 2 year old child for eating a forbidden fruit when he did not understand what sin even was.

Okay, before I type this, just know I am NOT making fun of your religion, and this is a completely serious question.

I was chatting with one of my friends a month or so ago, and they mentioned Mormons have -- or at lease USED to -- have sex through sheets? This sounded completely ludacris to me, so I guess I'm just wanting to put my mind at ease on this. I know the Mormon religion is famous for some "unorthodox" beliefs and practices... but seriously...

Anyone got an answer for this one? I can't find any gay guys around where I live. There's like 3 that seem gay and act like it sometimes and I would talk to them but they drink, smoke, and do weed. I'm not going to be hanging out with any of them cause I'm not going to do any of that. Why do all the good guys have to be "bad a**" or just straight? Does this happen to anyone else and does it p*** you the f*** off?

Aside from the Noahs ark story and the story of David Vs. Goliath etc. Do they ever talk about why the Mosaic laws were set up? or the Miracles of Elijah or Elisha? For example how the dead man simply touched the bones of Elisha and the man was brought back to life?

Many organised religions have homophobia(sexism, racism, etc) in them- but Islam seems to be the most contradictory - on the one hand the Imam/Priests/Magicians/Snake Oil salesmen -say to murder gay men- then as soon as prayer is over they are straight in the gay bars ,cruising for young bucks- what gives?

first ill say that if your one of those close minded religions people you can just leave right now. i don't need a lesson from you.

i cast a strong love/friendship binding spell. to make my friend and i closer. its still going strong. but iv always been a independent person and now i find that if were not spending every second together i feel lost and alone.

my question is. has it backfired? is it doing more damage than good? if you have a more personal answer or need to know more, feel free to email me.

Far too many people say such things as "There is a high rate of suicide among Mormon women" or "Mormon women have more depression" or something like that, and I want to know where they get their statistics to back this up?

And I don't want anything abouto UTAH, I want MORMON. The two are not the same thing. Utah is not all Mormon and not all Mormons live in Utah.

The way my prof. is teaching this section of the class is that the main message of the SotM was that Christians need to internalize holy laws (ie. ten commandments). For example, wanting to murder is as much of a sin as actually murdering.

SO. This in mind, what would the world look like if the Sermon on the Mount were fulfilled?

I can't think of anything other than, "Calm, better, probably not much talking." Anyone able to help me expand?

s it more stressful, do you think, in urban homes as opposed to rural homes?

Is Islam a more stressful religion than the others because it's such a dominating feature in a Muslim's life?

Does freedom from religion cause any stress?

Does it interfere in life? Does it shorten your day or week and make things more hectic?

For me personally, i believe the literal account of creation in Genesis, but i do consider evolution a possibility, i dont think its wrong to believe in evolution, it doesnt take anything away from God's power and to tell the truth is, is more in his character to let things work in a process more so than instantly. My question to you all is why do you act like evolution is fact? What proof do you have?

I've always liked boys and girls (even when I was little), so it's no surprise to myself that I've began to think I'm bi. My friends and I have joked about being gay or lesbians and how we'd all be fine with it if the other one was. Well, I want to tell them but I'm not sure how. I'm not scared that they'll think different of me but, I'm just nervous about how to say it. Any suggestions?
