Perhaps "born again" people ought to try and return to their first-born selves, eh ?

What do you think ?

I haven't really ever read the bible, but I would like to become closer in a walk with God, and become a woman of prayer. I know that this is not a book to read cover to cover, so my question is, where to start? I would like to read it in a way that I will understand the bible family tree and not get lost as to who everyone is. Does that make sense? Is it a good idea? If not, how can I read it in a way that the events will make sense to me in a chronological order?

If you are so secure in your beliefs why is it that someone with a different belief system frightens you to a point of having to be rude or threatening them with a fictious place like hell that they dont even believe in?

it was said to preach 'THE TRUTH' and NOT preach your own OPINION on matters of what "the truth" should be to all people!

should I really have to spell it out that way to make you understand that YOUR truth is NOT really "THE TRUTH" because your truth is ONLY your OPINION of what truth is!

If so, why didn't God just not make my roof leak?

For Christians, Muslims, Jehovas, and many other religions, it could be said they believe "life begins after death", as they are anticipating going to heaven, mecca, being saved, etc. Why are they giving up the good things in life they could have now, with the idea that "Life begins when you die!" and you meet up with your "God", etc.

If this never happens, won't they be screwed?

I will explain why I ask this. I saw a programe on BBC 2 last night about teenagers who were very gifted mathematicians. One of them said that he was a Christian. He then went on to say that he didn't believe God created the world in six days. He said that it was created with an accidental big bang about 16 billion years ago.
I think that this lad's intelligence has got in the way of his faith.
I am a Christian and if God tells us in His word that He created the world in six days then that should be good enough. Who am I to tell Him he is wrong?

I am interested to know how many honest "Christians" actually don't believe in God's creation.

Jesus observed the Jewish Law, and his disciples followed him: "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:17-20)

Christians do not follow the Torah as observed by the earliest Christians. Paul, a self-proclaimed apostle who discarded the Jewish Law, is instead being followed by Christians. Why?

Tell me how this "This isn't really a question, its more of a statement.

Please don't judge people by the piercings or tattoos they have, I know alot of people that are all tatted up and are goooood people...most of them I know from church, and they are proud of their tattoos ! I have my lip pierced twice, and I'm a leader at a bible study....and people feel the need to see me as a bad person, just because of some piercings. The only reason I'm saying this is because someone asked a question about if they should or shouldn't let their daughter get her lip pierced...along with it they put people down, just because they had piercings!! Also 30 + answers were from people PUTTING PEOPLE DOWN ACCORDING TO THE WAY THEY LOOK!!!!

Seriously stop, Don't judge people by the way they look. =):" Is

Abusing Yahoo Answers please :) I'm just confused.
Please tell me.

the anti-gay, pro-christian hate mongering? I mean, it's not like any of us haven't ever the whole "Sodom and Gomorrah" story, and that being gay is a ''sin'' rant, either.

I am personally getting tired of these people that feel like it's their ''mission from God'' to change us all. We say time and time and time and time and time again that we CAN'T change how we were created. Any intelligent person would put 2 and 2 together and leave it alone. I mean, if we always come back with something to combat them and never agree, why not just consider us lost causes and let us live our lives. If we go to Hell, then so be it!! What difference does it make to any of them, anyway?

And those that think it's funny just to attack us with ancient stories...grow up. Most of you don't even believe it, anyway.

Just one day, it would be nice to not have religion shoved down our throats. Don't we come here to help each other? When will people focus on real problems? I wish they would.

why not question you own beliefs?

your comprehension of the Bible that you read is questionable too, so why don't you focus on your own doctrines instead of meddling with other people's beliefs?

I read all of these questions here, "Why do Catholics believe this when it's so dumb?" and "Why do Christians hate everything but themselves?" and "Why doesn't everyone accept that _insert religion here_ is the one correct religion?" and I just don't understand why people can't just accept each other's differences and get along. Where does it say, in ANY religious text or doctrine, "Be a total jerk about religion and you will totally save peoples' souls."?

There was a big article in the newspaper over the weekend about fewer young people getting married than ever before. Of all the reasons given, no one mentioned the existence of gay marriage. Isn't that supposed to be the number one, if not the only, threat to traditional marriage in this country?
