When I study the word of God, the first reading is from my own understanding. I then endeavor to break the section down, first by commentary (to see what bible scholars thought of the passage). Then I begin to meditate and ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten my mind as to the true meaning of the scripture.

This can take a scripture and make it come alive to me, and the reason that bible study is a life Long pursuit.
The word of God is so beautiful, and so rich..it is a wonder!

Odd, isn't it? Protestants say that the holy spirit guides them in their interpretations, but they have over a thousand different denominations that don not agree on doctrine. The holy spirit must not be doing a very good job by their reasoning.

Before I read, I pray that the message gets through to me. So that I don't misinterpret the meanings. I have misunderstood things, being human. So normally I ask others, and they help me. God bless!

A saved person knows the difference. An unsaved person (like a catholic) can't figure it out at all.

Catholics are not saved Christians.

When you read it as beautiful literature and not the inspired word of god, that question rarely comes up.

if you hear voices, go to a psychiatrist. seriously, mental illness should be treated with proper medication rather than reading the Bible.
