If you publish nice things on your webpage about Discordianism and Eris then you gain a certain about of protection from black-hat hackers (altho unfortunately not from crackers). The difference is like being protected from master thieves but not from thugs.

A drawback is the lack of symbol recognition for both Discordianism and Eris. Another drawback is the chaotic lack of organization (duh, kindof builtin isnt it?).

If you want something that is fun, abit more organized, and has more recognition then check out SubGenius. If you want something that will piss off more people then try Pastafarianism (Spaghetti God anyone?)

Watch out for Discordian fundies. They take the words of Eris literally,

Hail Eris
All Hail Discordia
Worship the FSM

Don't put your money in the stock market as a contrarian unless you really know what you're doing. :-P (A friendly warning.)

And also be ready for people to be extremely wary of you. Discordians get that a lot.

Consult your pineal gland.

Sometimes I think Discordianism is better than the FSM and IPU because it has a far more complete philosophy.

My brother, please obtain a translated copy of Holy Quran and find time to read some portion of it daily. You will get peace of mind. Allah says in the Quran "Oh people! Peace of mind is only in the remembrance of God". Quran will guide you to the right path. Just consider my suggestion before converting into a Discordian

I just had to say that I'm giggling my bum off at the thought of fundamentalist Discordians.

Pros:

No rules or commandments that you have to try to remember, so there's no need for government funded cheat sheets.

Everyone's automatically a Pope if they want to be.

As a Pope in the POEE, you automatically have the right to invoke infallibility at any time, even retroactively.

You are automatically entitled, even encouraged, to do anything that you feel is inappropriate in any situation.

Cons:

It's hard to get anyone to cough up any dough to support your papacy.

I won't warn you of anything.

Discordianism is just like Nihilism... but with added Irony.
Some are closer in understanding and expression than others, but ultimately all philosophical lines of thought lead to their own destruction.... All philosophies return to the Nihil.

Not sure what a Discordian is. But converting in to a relationship with Jesus Christ is a can not lose situation.
