If you are so secure in your beliefs why is it that someone with a different belief system frightens you to a point of having to be rude or threatening them with a fictious place like hell that they dont even believe in?

i think its fear of the truth, people are so scared the the other religions might be true because of holes/inconsistencies in their own belief or god forbid science be true (no pun intended) that they fall back on what they know/believe resulting in empty threats like "your going to hell".

its like the drunk guy in the pub that says "what you looking at" even though the first time you saw him was when he said "what you looking at", deep down he knows this but because there is no proof he falls back to what he knows resulting in "im gonna stab you up outside"

ok so a stabbing isn't a "fictitious place like hell" (it could happen) but the drunks basic thoughts and fears are the same, its a fear of the unknown a fear of the truth, its basic instinct.

I mean evolutions like the large inmate that makes religion drop the soap in the showers, its just f.... well you get the picture!

i know this question was for the religious nuts but i couldn't help it its a good one!

I have not been rude, to my knowledge, and if I have been, then I apologize. As for threatening, I haven't done that either. As for hell, it has been my experience in life that you get more flies with honey than with vinegar - so, I usually don't go around talking about it. As to security, I'm not frightened of others' beliefs - just sad.

I guess they are frightened for you. No one wants anyone to go to hell. Just not believing in it doesn't make it less real.

You can choose not to believe in gravity, but if you step off the roof of a skyscraper you will fall to the ground and die. And if another person sees you heading for the edge, they will probably tell you to stop because you will die.

They are not frightened because they are weak in their faith...they are frightened for you! You may not believe in hell, but truth is not relative. Truth is absolute, so your belief in something or non-belief in something has no bearing on it's reality.

I am very secure in my faith and don't feel the need to be rude to people. But I think the people who are rude may still feel secure but are just rude people. I encounter rude people of different faiths and I think the problem is that your faith doesn't make people less rude. Everybody has their own way of dealing with people... I wish we are all kind but that's not really going to happen! Be blessed.

For Christians, it's only by lifting up Christ, pointing to him, and living the love and faith of Christ that wins anyone over. It just so happens that the person who warned most about hell was Jesus Christ himself, when he walked on earth. If he is who he claimed to be, then his words ought to be enough to make you think. Nothing I say will be more convincing.

The question for people who have no faith in Christ is, are you so secure in your disbelief that you can call hell a fiction when you have no possible way of proving that claim?

I am secure in my beliefs. I do believe my religion has the truth. And I have never told anyone that they are going to hell. I don't believe in a punitive God.

I am not frightened by any other belief......I respect other beliefs. Just because it's not what I believe does not make it any more wrong or right than mine...it's just more right for that person.

For one thing nothing frightens me.

The Lord is my helper
I will not be afraid,
what shall man do to me?

Another thing, I don't think that we would tell anyone about hell,
if we thought it to be fictitious. Hell is a not a threat we throw at people that piss us off. We are not here to scare others or to argue or get revenge on those that don't agree with us. We are here to spread the truth about Jesus Christ. You have heard about Jesus Christ, now it is up to you what you plan on doing about this newfound information about Christ.
You don't accept, its on you, not me.

If someone is like that about their beliefs toward me because of my beliefs then I will be rude and inconsiderate to them in return.
