Just a little SELF introspection, don't go into other people or groups. Whatever affiliation, be it religous, cultural, national, or whatever group you identify with (or are identified with by others), what stereotypes about that group (sect, religion, whatever) are actually true.

I'll start:

I'm White, and I really am a terrible dancer.

As an atheist, I really do think I've got a more accurate understanding of the world than most (certainly not all) theists.

I'm an American, and for most of my life, I really was over weight. (Down 40 pounds, and feelin' good!)

As a punk who 'rejected society' I did conform to a certain standard of dress and behavior (albeit a different one), and DID have a mohawk and go to protests.



C'mon R&S, be honest. You'll feel better.

I live in Wisconsin, but have been to mexico, lots of places in Europe, and many, many states....I like to travel, but do not do it near as much now....

Hi,

I'm a Protestant and don't know much about Catholicism. I'd appreciate answers from people who are Catholic or those that have an in-depth knowledge of Catholicism. I'm not trying to bash anyone - I just really want to learn more.

1. Do Catholics pray to saints? Are saints seen as being sinless? What qualifies people to be saints (how does the process work)?

2. Can you tell me a bit about Mary? I've often heard people say that Catholics worship Mary - but I've also heard that wasn't true. I'm a bit confused - what is the relationship of the Catholic church to Mary? Is she a saint?

3. Do Catholics believe that the Pope is sinless?

4. What is the significance of rosary beads? Why are they used - how do you use them?

5. Do people still go to confessional? Does it really look like a little booth (like in the movies)? Is it a requirement?

than do you believe he died on the cross for our sins? Also what does the virgin mary's birth mean to you? If he was a prophet than why didn't God just go about this like all the other prophets (sex between two people). Does that mean you believe that mary slept with joseph?

I have a black Graduation Gown and even the hat.
I need some ideas for costumes that can be made out of it. Is there things I can add to it?
It looks like a church robe as well. But I did not want to go there. Not for Halloween.
This will either be a costume for myself a 40 year old woman or a 16 year old boy. Oh, I guess also it could be used just to decorate the house.

My sister is six months pregnant with her first child, she senses that she carries a girl, and has suffered from serious health problems her all her life. She is healthier now. In our religion there is a ceremony where expectant mothers are blessed at certain stages during pregnancy. I was wondering if there were any pagan ceremonies for pregnant women or fertility ceremonies to that effect. I heard of some performed at the birth of a child, a blessing of some sort, but wondered if there were any ceremonies like that still surviving or if anyone knows of any that were practiced. I am interested to find out more about them.

This is not a joke.
Can a wiccan put spells on an object? for example, like a gift they give you? I used to work with a woman that never came right out and said she was wiccan, but talked about the way she "prayed", the power of wishful thinking, etc. She also told us about an "ordination" she went through for something, i can't remember. ANYWAY, her personality and mine clashed at times, and i swear, it may be coincidence, but whenever we would have a "falling out", something would happen to me! once, (i will never forget this) she and i had it out BIG TIME, and i was leaving to go home and she said "now, you be careful going home", and on the way home, i hit a part to an engine in the road and blew out my 2 passenger side tires going 70 mph!!! Is Magick that powerful?
FFWD to today: she is calling me (i haven't spoken to her in about 7 or 8 mos.) saying she has something for me that goes with the christmas present she gave me last year (she drew my name at the office)

So the council of Nicea were the ones who declared that God, and Jesus Christ were one individual.right?
And just who was it that told the people of the council, that They were one Person, and not two separate people?
Seems kind of strange for Jesus to speak to himself on the cross, don't you think??
And did He not tell the twelve apostles that He would ascend to the Father??
So either They are two different people, or Jesus has a split personality!
And they do call it the Godhead, or trinity! Three personages in the Trinity? God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Ghost!
What do you think?? And why!

in the New Testements at one time? I know it was in the Old Testaments, but JW's have replaced the name Lord in the New Testaments , with Jehovah. They say this is correct..Does anyone know for sure if they are right..or , were they wrong in doing this?

I know some evidence for both, and I would like to hear from BOTH sides, what their proof or evidence is. But there a few basic rules I would like you two to type by:

Creationist:
No evidence where it can be said by anyone else (such as..."Look around you, life is proof enough")
Can't say Bible, a self-referencing book is not my idea of solid evidence
If you can back up your claims with a website (preferably Wiki, not a Christian propaganda website) would be most appreciated

Evolution:
Same as Creationists (sans the religious parts)
If you can give out a reference, most appreicated as well.

Now I want a good clean fight...Creationists, no Jesus, Evoution peeps, no Darwin...Now lets GET IT ON!!! -ding ding-
