what made them think so?

Fundies fail to realize that Mary was "full of Grace", meaning she was full of grace at her conception meaning she had to be born sinless in order to give birth to Jesus Christ. Mary was born sinless. Because of her own daily decisions, she remained sinless.

As soon as Adam and Eve sinned, God started a plan to undo the damage, a plan that included Mary:

"And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel" (Genesis 3:15 ).

The fact that Mary was "full of Grace" came before anywords that appear in the New Testament were written. When the fundies rely on Romans 3:23 (written by Paul, not the words of Jesus)to try and discredit Mary and God's grace to her, they are committing blasphemy. If Romans 3:23 is used one would have to also include Jesus Christ in the " all have sinned" being He was also human . But we know that Jesus was sin free and Mary was born "full of grace" meaning she was born free from the stain of original sin.
Just as God's grace helped Mary make daily decisions to resist sin, so too can God's grace help us become holier people As God's fellow workers we urge you not to receive God's grace in vain. For he says, "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation (2 Cor. 6:1-2 NIV).

I think that a fundamentalist would say that Mary was just a person - and that they are equal. I'd base this on the verse in Romans where it says "all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

I'm Protestant, so I don't necessarily believe in sainthood in the way that it is set forth in the Catholic church (at least the way I understand it - but I could be misunderstanding it). But, I do believe that we should honor Mary much more than we do. She had tremendous character and was blessed above all women (the bible says in Luke 1:28). There is so much to learn from her. Not giving her a place of honor is a tremendous loss for us, I think.

Of course they do Fundies believe they are the cream of Christianity, they have this huge problem which is they cannot turn a page in the Bible if they have not received instruction to do so,their literal dependence on Sola Scriptura is the heart of their faith and they will not give ground no matter how sensible an argument you put forward.
I will say this, Christ the second Person of the Godhead could not sin and being divine was repulsed by sin yet still loved the sinner, reason alone dictates that He could not possibly repose in the womb of a sinful woman yet knowing this fact Fundies will cling stubbornly to their unreasonable belief regarding the Blessed Virgin.
Ask a Fundie to show you the word `Rapture` in scripture or even `Once saved always`saved` and wait for the illogical answer they will give.

The only thing that Mary did that made her great was to say, "Yes, Lord." This is the same thing that every great Christian has done. Mary was not any greater than anyone else. The Bible does not teach this! It is a tradition of the Catholic Church. So, to answer your question, I do not think I am better than Mary, I think I am her equal. And what makes me think that? The Holy Bible.

expensive Tango, Jesus honored Mary - and definitely she replaced into an occasion of a follower of Christ who enjoyed Jesus passionately and sacrificially. although, she is to no longer be worshipped as some sects of Catholicism has finished. (IE: asserting Hail Marys, etc.) The Bibles teaches Mary is to a brilliant occasion of a believer in Christ and he or she is to be honored- yet no longer interior the way of exalting her above Christ. wish that helps. The Virigin Mary is the one that gave me my name FaithMarie. I truly do love, appreciate, and respect her for who she is. It is God "Almighty" that has my greatest devotion. She knows this!

Yes, I do believe the Virgin Mary was right with my name because I have walked the life Marie desired for me from all of her heart.

Not this Bible-fundamentalist. All (including the Blessed Virgin Mary and you and me) have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Rom 3:23

No, but the Bible does say that worship of idols (statues) is wrong. But the Virgin Mary is revered as the mother of Jesus. They just don't pray to her or worship her. She is respected.

The Virgin Mary has very little impact in the bible; it always appeared to me that Catholics over state her importance.

It looks like they go to her because that is Jesus's mom and she can make him listen. if he doesn't listen she will grab him by the ear and put him in the corner.

I don't get why she is given so much clout?
Could be that Catholicism was based of a pagan religion which did worship a chic. It would make sense then?

So my question to you is what makes her so blessed? She is barley in the book.

I can't believe joseph fell for that. That is the oldest one in the book "I didn't cheat, god made me pregnant" you would't believe how many times Ive heard that one LOL
