The HOLY SPIRIT, GOD/JESUS, fertilized the egg. Mary was a mere human, she called herself the servant of the LORD. The Bible says she had sex after Christ was born(mat 1:24) Remember, after Jesus died HE rose HIMSELF from the grave. When Mary died she stayed dead.

Jesus did not need to be "God in the Flesh" to die for our sins. Adam was a perfect man. His death cost us the gift of everlasting life. God's pefect justice required that another perfect human balance the scales and prove Satan a liar. He sent his only begotten son to be born on earth AS that perfect human to accomplish his will on our behalf.
Some food for thought: If Jesus had been God in the flesh, who would have been in heaven to resurrect him and to sit at whose right hand? If the idea of a the Trinity was so important, why is there no record of this teaching being spread by his disciples? Why does the Catholic Encyclopedia itself say it did not become part of church teaching until the 4th century?

It is likely but not proven that Jesus existed, most of what Christians present as proof is indication that he did but not compelling evidence i.e. like the recent find of a stone inscription confirming Pilate. The gospels, at best are second hand accounts and thus are rather dubious sources of trustworthy information. If we accept that Jesus existed, there is still no evidence that Mary was actually a virgin or that there were reliable methods to determine if she was.

Yes. Lambs died as sacrifices too but they weren't God either. Same idea.
Virgin meant young girl in the original language, not necessarily someone who didn't have sex though that could be the case. Either way she was impregnated by something. She did have other children and grew old so she wasn't a virgin for long in either case.
I think he was more than a prophet.
She did eventually.

No I don't believe he died for our sins and the virgin birth means nothing as it didn't happen.and if they existed I hope mary slept with joseph,it would have been a pretty strange marriage otherwise.

If Jesus is God in the flesh, and Jesus died on the cross, then doesn't that mean God is dead?

I believe that we are very fortunate primates who, through the process of evolution, developed the capacity for language and all the related mental skills that went with it.

I doubt there was a historical Jesus at all, but if there was, he was an ordinary human who may have gotten himself killed by Rome.
