I need help, Im a Bi-Sexual. i really want to tell my parents because they think im gay. It's weird because i know im not gay, but i do get turned on by guys and girls. My parents arnt really the liberal. Mostly my dad. I dont know how to tell them, but i am tired of keeping it in and hiding it. The weird this is, is that i hate myself for being Bi, if there was a way to turn hetro, i would do anyting for it; but i know there is no possible way without killing another part of you, to turn hetro. So what I am really asking is, is it worth it to tell my parents and how should I brin g it up?

Does there always have to be good and evil, in your opinion?

My son and I were talking today and he told me that there could not be one without the other. I said why?

I think there is a God, or intelligent designer who created my soul. I think Satan is entirely the creation of men who desired to use fear as a means of control.

What do you all think?

I would have added a qualifier like ‘most Christians’ or ‘some Christians’ but there wasn’t enough character spaces left. But is it just that a certain amount of time must pass before Christians will accept new knowledge? I mean, I for one see parallels with what Galileo went through and what Darwin went through, but Christians eventually accepted Galileo’s discoveries. Many though, seem adamant about never accepting Darwin’s discovery. Is it because evolution is more of a ‘slap in the face’ for theists than the discovery that the world is in fact spherical?

animals on the top? You see mammoth fossils near the top and then dinosaurs even lower then simple multicellular lifeforms near the bottom. Like these weird things:

Every smart person knows that evolution is true way we are what we are, however some people take offense to the fact that I tell them there is no god. So how can I convince them without offending them.

Alright, so I decided that I might try going to a Buddhist monastery in Thailand, my parents being traditional Buddhists.
Anyhow, during meditation, I had a profound moment of clarity in my mind that I can not describe. When I talked to my parents about it, my mom got scared
And said youre moving with your aunte and uncle in bel-air

I whistled for a cab and when it came near the
Licensplate said fresh and had a dice in the mirror
If anything I could say that this cab was rare
But I thought now forget it, yo home to bel-air

pulled up to a house about seven or eight
And I yelled to the cabby yo, home smell you later
Looked at my kingdom I was finally there
To settle my throne as the prince of bel-air.

What should I do now?

buying Sam Harris's book, "Letter to a Christian Nation." I'd been flipping through it, and wondering if there were any rational people in the US. When the cashier was ringing up my purchase, she looked at me oddly and asked, "Are you an atheist?"

I said, "Yes."

I thought she would give me the judgmental stare or something like that (to let me know she disapproved), but instead she smiled and said, "Me too. It's so good to meet another atheist."

And it is, isn't it? One of the reasons I keep coming to Y!A is because there are so many atheists here. Have you ever had an experience like this?

For someone who preaches about God, he has been known not only to be a liar but has been a pastor to many presidents in office, most of whom initiated wars? I'm just curious as to what people really think of him. In the USA he is regarded as 2nd to God! Dah

I'm a former Y!A religion and spirituality addict, and returning here after months of going without you people, I have noticed something odd:

Why exactly are atheists here?

There are a good few here that honestly want to learn from the faithful, but I see that most of atheists, I formerly among them, are here to do nothing but flail their arms about saying "lololol you're wrong!!!1!1oneone" ...

However, I see plenty of religious people doing the same with each other...

Anyhow...
I admit it. I used to do that. Flailing my arms about. Shouting inanely, although I would like to hope that I have become more mature.
So I ask you my fellow atheists, what exactly are you here on this board for?

On a side note, not a troll, you can check my history, I am an Atheist whom used to be the kind of person who reminded you of prepubescent children high on sugar.

Again, I'm still an Atheist, not a troll.

All views welcome.

Don't fail me RS.

When these ideas were first put forth, they became the prevailing philosophies of their day.

Now, however, except in a class on the history of philosophy, the church is the last place where they are even discussed. They long ago gave up their influence over the way we think of ourselves and our world.

How are modern people supposed to integrate Christianity in their lives when such an outdated philosophy lies at the core of Catholic theology?

Considering there are so many prophets that have come "already like David, Lot, Moses etc what makes Jesus special. Isn't it logical to conclude that Jesus was also of the same rank.

O followers of the Book! do not exceed the limits in your religion, and do not speak (lies) against Allah, but (speak) the truth; the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary IS ONLY A MESSENGER of Allah and His Word which He communicated to Mary and a spirit from Him; believe therefore in Allah and His messengers, and say not, Three. Desist, it is better for you; Allah is only one Allah; far be It from His glory that He should have a son, whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His, and Allah is sufficient for a Protector.
-Quran(4-173)

And why do you think Jesus will free you from your sins? Just imagine for a moment this is not the case. What answer will you give to Allah on the Day of Judgement.(when you stand in front of Allah and Jesus is nowhere to be seen)?Wouldn't you be caught unawares???

not what controls morality. Both Atheists and Christians feel good when they do something for someone else and unhappy when they wrong someone else. The fictional Bible deals largely with stories of immorality, and is unnecessary if not dangerous.
FOOTNOTE: I suppose there are a few Christians who hate people and only do good because they think it will get them to a mythical Heaven. They are exceptions.
Most Atheists and Christians are good for the same reason. It makes us happy to help someone and makes us unhappy to harm someone. (Atheists do it without that confusing fictional Bible, so I prefer their natural approach.)

SECOND FOOTNOTE: I presume that the believers and non-believers in other religions are similarly motivated.
