I'm a former Y!A religion and spirituality addict, and returning here after months of going without you people, I have noticed something odd:

Why exactly are atheists here?

There are a good few here that honestly want to learn from the faithful, but I see that most of atheists, I formerly among them, are here to do nothing but flail their arms about saying "lololol you're wrong!!!1!1oneone" ...

However, I see plenty of religious people doing the same with each other...

Anyhow...
I admit it. I used to do that. Flailing my arms about. Shouting inanely, although I would like to hope that I have become more mature.
So I ask you my fellow atheists, what exactly are you here on this board for?

On a side note, not a troll, you can check my history, I am an Atheist whom used to be the kind of person who reminded you of prepubescent children high on sugar.

Again, I'm still an Atheist, not a troll.

All views welcome.

Don't fail me RS.

I'm still here to provide, hopefully, a counterbalance to the harm theists would wreak on the US by enacting restrictive laws and the like.

ADDENDUM

"well i never see a atheist leave
maybe they have no friends =[ "

According to your report, it seems you are here 24/7, yourself. Where are your friends? Hmmm?

first and ideal, you're thought of atheists is carefully jaded, who advised the lie that each and every physique atheists believe that there isn't god. i don't comprehend what atheists you have spoken to yet i believe that there is a god, he only isn't how the Holy Bible, the Koran, or the Torah describes him to be. of direction this is my opinion, not a actuality. the actuality that somebody else would believe that there is a god is an opinion and not a actuality. At any cost, only because of the fact countless people say some thing befell or a man or woman existed would not make it so, pigeon droppers and con artists have been around because of the fact perpetually, hoaxes do exist as does city legends and myths. You stated WW2 and gravity, authentic you have by no potential seen the two of the two yet you think them to have befell or continues to be happening, the substantial term you utilized on your question is info. what info to do you have that however god it somewhat is which you think in exists? sure some declare there is not any god and can't teach, yet are you able to teach that there is a god?

It is their own personal right to believe in what religion they have choose to be. If you are Jewish does not mean that I have the right to create another holocaust? Leave them alone and stay with your personal preference. The same question day after day after day. Drop this entire section and put up a new source that is educational and not based on belief.
+*%^*+@&$* this same question gets old...........!

We are here because we still need to inform people about how harmful religion is.

I've been an atheist for over 20 years, so I'm about as mature as they get. I'm over the "angry atheist" phase. I don't just "flail about". I'm even past the "we should learn from the faithful" phase, that I see you're in. I'm past that to the "we should educate people about the dangers of religion" phase.

Society is currently doing a lot of harm to society. This harm ranges from people flying planes into buildings to passing laws to promote superstition instead of science in schools. We really have to stand up for our rights, because if we don't, nobody else will. The founding fathers were way ahead of their time in promoting separation of church and state, but that is being quickly eroded.

That's why I'm here, at least.

Oh, thanks for clearing that up. Up 'till your last few lines, I would have taken you for a Christian who I was about to chastise for bashing Atheists coming to R&S. I stand corrected and do apologize.

As many others have said, some non-believers come here to have friendly discussions and maybe understand other people's points of view. Others (it seems) come just to antagonize. Anyway, it's a free country.

If you are a former R&S addict you should know this question has been asked about a zillion times. Also, if you're an atheist then shouldn't you already know the answer to this?

Why am I here? To have fun. Did your apparent maturity neglect the addition of a sense of humour?
