Let's say you called yourself a guitarist. You can read and understand all sorts of books about playing guitar. You can have an extensive DVD library on every make and model of guitar and every recorded style of playing. You may even pay a lot of money to someone who says they can teach you to be a guitarist. But my dear TTC. If you do not play a guitar then you are not a guitarist. Replace "Guitarist" with "Christian". Religion is an organized way to worship GOD. If you do not have a relationship with GOD then it is useless. Unless you just like being "churchy"

Well I am going to go out on a limb here and assume you mean "versus" not "verses".
Anyway, I have a relationship with God; I pray, I ask for forgiveness and love. Most importantly, I asked if the way I believed was "okay", and I got a wonderful answer which affirmed my faith.
Now religion is a whole 'nother ballgame. Religion is man made. It is all these different sects using fear tactics and brainwashing in order to control people. That doesn't fly with me. Even the Bible is man made and written by men, so I am not real big on believing every word of it literally; however there are some wonderful and affirming passages in it. (Of course for every lovely passage, there is an equally awful one.)
In essence, I am not going to let anyone tell me how to believe and what to believe; I look for those answers within my heart and in my personal relationship with God. And I also believe there are many paths to God, and nuggets wisdom in many of the world's religions.
For me, God was never problem. Religion however is a HUGE problem...I am not going to pledge myself to a cause that requires war, bloodshed, hatred, bigotry, fear tactics, brain washing, science & logic avoiding ignorance and general chaos.
So I say screw religion---love God instead.

Hello!
I think a common man or woman of course cannot realize / imagine God in true sense where as the religion verses depict true picture that is why difference is reflected. It is the religion which leads us to God or helps to recognize.

Religion speaks of a set of rules and rituals and a separation of members and their god. Relationship is the ability to have a real connection with God. Once we get past the notion that God is this being that lives to crush us and learn that Jesus is the way to know God, our lives change! Never again can you just go through the rituals of a religion. You have a relationship!

This is the reason why I ascertain that you don't need to be in a religion, if you can and have the ability to connect with God.
Sometimes when I am alone, I start talking to God as if, and He is right there. if your open enough to believe and feel that... God feels what it is you feel. So when I am seriously sincere, and or heartfelt, and ask God questions or prayer, He answers me back sometimes right off. You have to be open to all the ways that He communicates.
Once God's presence intervene to me, as I was in the middle of a meeting at work, I done the right thing at the right time, and God felt my compassion, and it was in the moment of truth that I pleased God, so He came to tell me telepathically, and I felt His presence, God was happy, as He surrounded me with a warmness, and spoke in my head, God said,"I am happy with you". And so was my boss at work.
That is the difference, when you can communicate with God, and God with you because you are open and sensitive to all the ways that He communicates. God is Spirit, and I am sensitive to the spiritual world. God uses religions to reach out to people that aren't sensitive in that way.

To have a religion does not necessarily mean that one has a relationship with God, just like knowing of a person does not mean that you are their friend, a relationship with God requires a person not only to know of or believe in God, but it also requires that a person knows God well, and that this person knows the truth about God(John4:24)24God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." Since not all religions teach truth, this means that if one wants a relationship with God they must get to know the truth about God to be able to have a relationship with him.To be able to do this God has provided us with the required information about himself that he wants us to know in his Word the Bible.

When something gets a bad reputation, they often change the name of it to make it sound more palatable.
Some examples:
1) Myanmar....formerly Burma
2) Intelligent design.....formerly Creationism
3) relationship with god....formerly religion

Relationship is having a personal relationship with Jesus. It's not just knowing that he died for the sins of the world but that he died for YOU, for YOUR sins. And that he wants to have a personal relationship with YOU. And that he has a personal plan for YOU, for YOUR life.

I think that many people have a relationship with their church and think that is their relationship to God. To me a real relationship doesn't have a middle man. Not a priest, pastor, bible, church, etc. I go directly to the source.
