Is atheism a religion?

2007-09-22 02:51:02 · 27 answers · asked by anil m 6 in Religion & Spirituality

Two times in the prophetic book of Revelation, the name Nicolaitans was mentioned, namely, from KJV:
1. To the angel of the church in Ephesus (Rev. 2:6): “But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.”
2. To the angel of the church in Pergamos (Rev. 2:15-16): “So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.”

The church according to the Holy Spirit we talk to is us. So the different churches are the different types of people and their characteristics. Regarding the church in Ephesus, please read Rev. 2:1-7 and the church in Pergamos, Rev. 2:12-17.

Wow. I mean, talk about one of the most maddening things...right up there with nails on a chalkboard...its people who mindlessly paste "NOT ALL MUSLIMS ARE TERRORISTS" upon any question that dares to take any Islamic doctrines into account.

Personally, I have never ever met anyone who believed "all Muslims are terrorists", nor have a read any claims in here to that effect...yet the uneducated continue to spit out the stupid cliche.

Ever met a person who has all this canned advise that they think is profound, and yet literally every idiot on earth gets the concept? You see em in here all the time, people who think they are sharing something new and brilliant with us "haters". Thats their little simplistic Disney world view of reality...the world is neatly divided into good people and haters, and if you dont share their little worldview, your a hater.

Almost all armed conflict worldwide is Islamic. But, OFCOURSE, that doesnt mean ALL MUSLIMS ARE TERRORISTS. We clear now?

I have an idea for a line of jeans that look so good that people will stare at your butt, read the label and then exclaim, "Jesus".

This is just my little way of helping to spread the name of Jesus to the masses of unsaved out there.

What do you think?

Christians (and others) often "lift" Scripture passages "out-of-context" to support their beliefs. This is called "proof-texting." When read in context (reading before and after the "pulled" passage), the true meaning is usually discerned, resulting in what is often considered to be the orthodox meaning.

Is there an overall context of the Scripture which can help us determine more accurately what particular passages mean?

Your REAL first name?

Your APPROXIMATE age (be specific, if you like)?

Your nationality?

Your "religious" position (if any?)

Your favourite pastime?

Why you are here in R & S?

Your unfulfilled (as yet) ambition?

I'm NOT a market researcher or a "creepy internet guy", by the way. Just figured I'd like to ask a relatively light-hearted question and get to know a little bit about the people behind the avatars.

I'll be glad to reveal my answers in due course.

Blessings.

Why, if the American Indians were descended from Lehi, was there such diversity in their languages, and why were there no vestiges of Hebrew in any of them?
Why does the Book of Mormon say that Lehi found horses when he arrived in America? The horse did not exist in the Americas until the Spaniards brought them over in the sixteenth century.
Why was Nephi stated to have a bow of steel? Jews did not have steel at that time, and no iron was smelted in the Americas until the Spanish colonization.
Why does the Book of Mormon mention “swords and cimeters” when scimitars (the current spelling) did not come about until the rise of Islam after 500 A.D.?
Why does the Book of Mormon mention silk, when silk did not exist in the Americas at that time?

With the concept of free will theoretically in place, I don't see why I couldn't let loose once I get there. And God can't "know already" that I plan to do that, or else the concept of free will would be violated due to the fact that he knew my choices before I made them. That's not free will at all, if that's the case then there would have been no point in making someone just to send them to hell, knowing they wouldn't learn or change anything. So he couldn't know what we will choose.

Shoot... well, NOW I can't do that because I asked this question, and God will see this. But, that doesn't mean you can't do this. Good luck. Have fun sinning like crazy in heaven. Turn it upside down for me.
