that is so sad that it has caused you to choke up or outright cry?
I watch now and then the movie Gunga Din with Cary, Douglas, Victor and Sam Jaffe and laugh throughout the entire movie until the very last scene, then get choked up when the 'Colonel' reads the last few stanzas of Kiplings poem. How about you?

What is this about seniors. Don't you whipper snappers ever tear up over a movie.

We all have and do from time to time. This is normal for us all .. Even those of you that think you are too tough do the same but hide it.

You want the list of movies that were able to make me cry? Would be a long list. I'll go fetch some DVDs and write you some samples, but you could also check out my blog, where I do a lot of movie reviews.

*Hobbles over to DVD racks and searches, most recent first*

The Pursuit of Happyness
World Trade Center
United 93
Everything is Illuminated
Pride & Prejudice
The Last Samurai
Hearts in Atlantis
Chocolat
Lorna Doone
The Patriot
The Turn of the Screw
What Dreams May Come
Jane Eyre
Sense & Sensibility
Nick of Time
Ed Wood
Benny & Joon
What's Eating Gilbert Grape
Wuthering Heights
Patriot Games

OK, that takes us back to 1992. How far back you want me to go?

I think there were many movies that made me cry. But seeing
a couple reminded me now, that Bambi was the first, and
then Old Yeller, and Wuthering Heights, and even Peggy Sue
got Married, there was a scene that triggered me. But the
most recent I remember affecting me, was The Bridges of Madison County. I sure wanted him to be with her in the end.
And they didn't stay in touch. That really affected me. There
was something I could identify with that made the tears flow.

So many wonderful movies already listed! Some I have not seen and have now put on my movie list.

One of my favorites is An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant.

Watch 'the colour purple'. An amazing movie that leaves you wrung out and wondering why and how such things could ever happen. I highly recommend it.
It had a profound effect on me. I'm afraid I'm just a little naive even now.

Braveheart - of course! The scene where Wallace is being hung, torn and quartered and he sees Maire walking through the crowd - oh dear oh deary me! Send for McTealc to dry my tears!

Wuthering Heights with Laurance Olivier and Merle Oberon - when Heathcliffe damns Cathy to never rest in peace but to haunt him all his life .............. noooooooooooooo!

And ...

A Bridge Too Far ............
Depicting the battle that my Father was involved in during WWII. He never got to see it all the way through - he always had to leave the room at a certain point in the film. But he did remark on the accuracy of the film.

Good question!
