Yes, we are all born with a clean slate so we are all born atheist. Atheism is not a religion, it simply does not accept the existence of anything supernatural.

Religion:
a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

Atheism:
1. the doctrine or belief that there is no God.
2. disbelief in the existence of a supreme being or beings.

Common sense, an inquisitive nature, research, a rational mind and logic all played a part in me turning away from my christian upbringing.
Proof is the single most important thing in my believing something. Unbiased research, done by people much more specialised in their fields than I, is a massive factor when I am deciding whether or not I can hold true to a fact.
Religion is faith based on a book with no concrete evidence of its creators and therefore doesnt even make it passed the first stage of my logical assessment.

Everyone is born an atheist with a blank slate.
From the moment of birth we begin being programmed.
When we're young we take in information like a sponge and every piece of information is filtered through all the previous information so that when we reach about six years old it's pretty hard to break free of all the 'truths' we learnt as a child.
This is why religionists need virgin minds so they can pollute them with their particular breed of meme.
Statistically they know they’ll keep a large proportion.

Atheism is not a religion just like not collecting stamps is not a hobby.
Oh, an atheist doesn't believe that invisible sky guys exist.
The hole you think that leaves in a person does not exist in the mind of an atheist.
We don't worship replacement 'gods' either cos we don't believe they exist either.
I wonder if you understood that.

Atheism is not a religion although its adherents do agree on the non-existence of GOD. Atheists are enigmatic people who have a strong belief that GOD does not exist and the Universe runs on the Laws of Nature. I would say that they have every right to have an opinion as human beings and we have to respect their opinion. They will become believers once the TRUTH is revealed to them by the almighty.

Being born an Atheist.

One of the things that upset me a little in this world is when a Christian , Jewish or Muslim couple have a baby and that kid is automatically labelled A Christian , a Jew or a Muslim. Christianity even goes so far as to Baptise their offspring when they are still babies .

My mother was an RC and my father was a Muslim ( neither very devout ) . I was lucky , I was never told what faith I was . I was allowed to find my own path , of course that kept me an Atheist.

Of course its not a religion - the same way baldness is not a hair colour.

I can only speak from personal experience but if you're an independent thinker, logical, reasonably intelligent and scientifically literate - you've got no choice but to become an 'atheist'

Of course nobody should have to be called an 'atheist' anymore than people need labels for adults who don't believe the easter bunny is real.

Atheism is the script that each unit receives upon inception. Many units have this script over written by other scripts developed within the Master Program by malicious programmers. Some units are able to delete these other scripts and reboot the original atheism script.

Take your blue pill.

Good question. Atheists simply don't believe in the existence of God. Religious people believe in the existence of God.

The reasons people have for their beliefs are varied. Religious people believe that atheists are deprived (not depraved) and refuse to submit to a higher power. Atheists believe that religious people are ignorant and cannot prove that God exists.

I think that both are wrong.

The argument that God doesn't exist because He hasn't been proven to exist is unscientific and just as ignorant as someone who believes life doesn't exist outside of Earth because it hasn't been proven.

I believe that if it could be conclusively proven that God does not exist, then most religious people would stop believing in Him.

I believe that if it could be conclusively proven that God does exist, then most atheists would logically believe in Him.

I have my own belief system which grew out of early Catochism, departure from the Church, study of various beliefs, losing belief in God, studying philosophy, discovering Aristotle's Metaphysics, reading Aquinas' proof of God's existence through the Laws of Motion, and finding to MY satisfaction that God does in fact exist.

Now whether or not God desires worship or if He favors one form of worship over another is a matter conjecture. I have chosen the route of Catholicism to practice my form of worship but believe that no one has THE answer to the true mystery of faith.
