Incest was allowed during that period for the sake of human propagation; there were no written laws against that. After Noah, when the laws were written, this was forbidden.

Of course Adam and Eve had many children.Adam lived more than a 900 years.Br. and si. of course intermarried.
This was at a time when all of nature was different. At the time there were no huge oceans and very high mountains.Because of a water vapor canopy around the atmosphere people were healthier and lived long lifes. After the 'great flood 'all that changed.'

John F., what is there to explain? Though Adam and Eve are fictional, they never existed, for some reason I have difficulty feeling anything but disgust at even the thought of incest. I guess it's just me, eh?

It all depends on how you take the stories of the Bible. If you are a fundamentalist, then yes, for the sake of saving the human race, which you can thank them for, then yes, there was incest going on.

Erm...well, in most cultures waaaay back when, you married relatives---very close relatives--in order to preserve your own family/community. Incest wasn't perceived the same way back then as it is today
Also, adam and eve weren't real people.

Mythological people can only partake in legendary incest. Since real people existed, incest wasn't necessary.

No, if you read Cain went to the land of Nod, to find his wife, Adam and EVE it says was first, not the only.
