Why do women want to get married? You have to change your identity (last name taken away), in some religions' vows you are to serve and submit to your husband, and women are EXCITED to do this!?!? But, from birth they are raised to dream of a beautiful wedding, they are given dolls to play with, and most of the time are never pushed to think for themselves.... I think marriage (in a lot of religions) is an institution to control women. I mean someone has to cook clean and ask no questions, right? i don't think so.... women: think about what you let yourselves fall into.
Now I do acknowledge that there ARE some beliefs that have a different meaning and hold different views about marriage. But I have been to a lot of weddings and I can remember being totally appalled by some of the vows, I think they were Methodists (I could be wrong). I'm not trying to offend any religion or anyone; I just wonder...... why?

After a person sings in their church, no one claps, this is because they are suppose to be reverend and quite. The person who sang goes quietly to their seat.

as much as I am against Christianity, it is your right to practice it. So why are there people on here that think it is amusing to post things that are hateful and just made to make people mad?

I fairly new to this site and I started reading and than I started to ask my own questions. It started off as a distraction for my mind. I'm severely depressed and I need to keep active to distract my mind from spiraling down. But, as I read more abd more, I found that the people on this site are interesting, open, honest, and fun.

My question. What are your reason for visiting this site?

1) gain insight
2) bored
3) need someone to talk to
4) just for fun
5) other reasons

Think about it. He taught us how to love one another, to love our enemies, and to be a good Samaritan. He also taught us to give to the poor, serve the widows, and to help the elders.

I have been in college on & off since 2000. dont have a digree, but going back to school is getting harder and harder. I live a life that is a lie, I tell people I have accomplished more than I have, and I think the longer I have been telling this lie about myself the harder it becomes to tell the truth. I know I have to finish school to have a better life, but my mind is so accupied with my lies I can't do well. Please help me find way to get out of this problem, I'm getting older and time is running out before I can do anything in my life, that I can be proud of.
thatnks a million for all your help.

I moved into my first home by myself. When I lived at home, my mom had always put a cross above my door that was blessed. Now that I have my own house, I received a new cross for a gift and wanted to get it blessed but am not sure what to do. I am Catholic, but no not attend church regularly. How can I get this cross blessed? What do I have to do, and do I pay to have it done? Thanks in advance for the help.

So, I can sit and watch Bill Mahr and laugh at (most of) the things he says about Christians/religious people.

I laugh when someone tells me a joke(whether light hearted or not) about Mormons.

I laugh at South Park, Family Guy, etc. when they make fun of religion...

I don't see why we should get so upset about stuff like that. Now, I understand if someone is attacking you maliciously for your belief that you get upset...but when it's just making fun of it, we should be able to laugh it off and go on...

Agree?

I recently moved back to the town I grew up in. When I was growing up, there was a guy who was always bugging me and asking me out, even though I wasn't interested. This guy recently discovered I'm back and is now coming around where I work (I have a part-time job at a convenience store alongside my regular job). He tries to flirt and asks me to hang out. He's even asked me for my cell phone number. (Subsequent question: What's a polite way to NOT give him my number?) Anyway, how do I let him know I'm not interested?
