To begin with I think I would stand a great chance of survival against zombies or ghouls - for tactical purposes they are essentially the same. I own my own armor and a small armory of melee weapons including the weapon of choice, the japanese katana. The katanas curved design resists becoming stuck in bone and is lightning quick to wield. I also am a master of the sword, having spent the last 17 years in the SCA, and as such am used to moving and fighting for extended periods in full armor. Always strike for the neck for decapitation, because the only bone structure you have to worry about is the spinal column. The rest is muscle, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, and tissue.
My armor is designed to take hits from baseball bats essentially, and cannot be torn apart by human strength. The undead are rotting corpses and as such are suffering from degradation of muscular tissue - they are slow and weak, and as time goes by will get slower and weaker.

Vampires on the other hand, are much more magical - being under a millenia old curse from God, and as such do not decay normally. If the old stories are true that they cannot enter a home without permission, then I am safe because I have enough willpower to resist their hypnotic suggestions. However, all a vampire has to do is to simply throw gas on the house and light a match, or direct the zombie hordes to enter the building. And there is nothing at all to prevent a vampire from shooting you through your window and then directing the zombies to haul your wounded butt out. When the human inside is forced to exit then he better have his game on. Vampires are (except for the thralls) usually smart and very resourceful, and any vampire worth the name would quickly realize that a half inch of steel plate over his chest would keep him from getting staked. Think how different Salem's Lot would have ended had Barlow been wearing a steel breastplate - Ben had only seconds left before Barlow would have been at full power. If vampires are in the mix then any humans odds of survival decrease dramatically.

always ready, i think i carry a good chance of survival, i know how to weild weapons and i spend hours on video games getting ready for z day also read books about it, im very into it. Did you know around the 50's and 60's not sure if they do it now but the us armed forces were trained to deal with zombie attacks quality lol. So yeah my plan of action would be, get my self out and worry about myself this is were all the zombie movies fail, too much save the women and children, really you look out for number 1, until z day comes i bid you good day

definately I will survive. I am a swordmaster who has studied all the weaknesses of the undead. I also have access to multiple firearms and the knowledge of how to use them.

I spend hours each day training. Be it shooting them with dual pistols or building a fortress and getting supplies ready. People think video games are just for fun...WRONG. They are really training materials developed by secret agencies and marketed as games to keep the feds from learning about them...oh crap, i let the secret out....im running away to mexico...crap did it again!

I'm the guy who's too slow to run from the beasts, so I'm pretty sure I'd die in the opening scenes of this horror movie.
