I moved into my first home by myself. When I lived at home, my mom had always put a cross above my door that was blessed. Now that I have my own house, I received a new cross for a gift and wanted to get it blessed but am not sure what to do. I am Catholic, but no not attend church regularly. How can I get this cross blessed? What do I have to do, and do I pay to have it done? Thanks in advance for the help.

Very simple. All you have to do is visit a Catholic Church and ask the priest to bless the cross for you. He'll do it right then, and there is no fee. If you go to Mass, you can ask for it to be blessed after Mass. If you prefer not to attend Mass, call the parish office and ask about the priest's office hours. I've had things like Rosaries blessed both after Mass and by stopping in to see a priest.

Ask your priest.

But here's one of those little known Catholic facts: did you know that anybody can bless a person or an object? And it carries as much authenticity in the eyes of the church as something blessed by the pope himself?

So you can bless the cross, or the whole house, yourself.

Acourse lots of people want their priest or bishop to do it out of respect for their ecclesastic office.

But you can if you want.

Bless you. :)

Go to Mass at your local parish. Before or after Mass approach the priest and ask him to bless your cross. No payment is necessary.

After the cross is on your wall, make it mean something by living your life accordingly. Come back to Mass regularly and get involved in your parish.

With love and prayers in Christ.

Simply ask any Parish Priest to do it for you. They may do it on the spot, or they may have a special service once a year, during which people from the church bring such things to be blessed.

I bless it and you, my Daughter +

Number one, God does not have any thing to do with Idols. All those cross es, figures, and any thing we pay undue attention
to are idols, and God does not blessed them. Honor thy God only.

I sugest you ask the pope to bless it.
to be honest I suspect a priest would but I do not think either mean any thing they are only men. better to ask Jesus to be in your home.

Isn't your line to god is every bit as firm as that of the Pope's?

Or, do you believe that god listens to the prayers of clergy more-so than he listens to your prayers?
